Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle dog mix, male Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Diesel and I’m looking for a forever home. If you remember, I came to CCHDR back in May with my brother, now believed to be son, Ruger. I’m the goodest boy, but made a couple of bad choices that took me off the “search for a home” circuit, while the team could observe, troubleshoot, and rehabilitate my behavior. I’m a classic, old school blue heeler - stoic, built like a tank, at your service and by your side. I’m calm and quiet and would love nothing more than to have a person to call my own. In fact, I’m a little lost not having that. I am crate trained, housebroken, gentle on leash and Velcro off leash. I am a fantastic pack dog. You’d be hard pressed to find a dog as amicable with other dogs as I am. At approximately 4 years old, I am mature and my soul runs deep. There is something truly special about me that humans, despite having the ability to talk, can’t quite verbalize what it is. Perhaps there isn’t a word for it but you can see it and feel it. Now for some transparency. Shortly after arrival from the shelter, I surprise nipped a few people. Never my foster. It was a grab and go situation and no skin was ever broken but reports were filed. After reviewing the incidences with a fine-tooth comb, the rescue believes that Ruger (my son) seemed to be the common denominator. Whenever he was in the picture and getting attention from strangers is when I’d go in. He’s since been adopted and living his best life so I can live mine too (separately). I know my person is out there. Ideally a breed savvy, adult-only home without a revolving door of visitors. The occasional guest is no problem, I’m perfectly happy in my crate and who knows once I’ve had time to decompress and bond with my people I might want to join the party, but for now the rescue is looking for a responsible adopter that isn’t going to throw caution to the wind immediately. Diesel is in Templeton, CA Diesel is microchipped, neutered, and UTD on vaccines. Cats, critters, and livestock unknown but probably fine just based on demeanor. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
