Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Rottweiler / Mixed (medium coat). Pepper (A138697) is a 1-year-and-3-month-old GSD X Rottweiler who weighed nearly 60 pounds on intake! 07/07/26 Pepper, previously known as Beth Ann, is back at the shelter and looking for her new home! She was described as a very high-energy and excitable dog. She is needing a home that will be able to provide her with plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep her entertained and out of trouble. Pepper was known to be a bit of a chewer, so also ensure you are providing her with appropriate chew toys. She was stated to be kennel trained, housebroken, and to know her basic commands. However, she still does like to jump up on people and will get into the trash if left unsupervised. Pepper was also know to be vocal at times and can be a digger outdoors. She just has so much energy to burn! Pepper was noted to have a rough style of play with other dogs, so it is important that appropriate introductions are made. She was also said to have a high prey drive and would do best in a home without cats, pocket pets, or livestock. Pepper was stated to be people-friendly and was gentle with babies and children. She was stated to be sweet and loving! Pepper would love to find her new adventure buddy! If you are interested in meeting Pepper, please let us know! 06/11/25 These sweet pups were surrendered to the shelter and are looking for their new homes! They were part of a litter of ten puppies and found themselves to be the last ones looking for their families to love. Their mom was stated to be a German Shepherd, and their dad a Rottweiler. A reminder that puppies are a lot of work but worth the reward if you have the time to devote to them. They have been working on kennel training but will also need continued help with potty training, basic commands, and positive socialization. Providing them with plenty of enrichment and outlets for their energy is important as they age. If you are interested in meeting one of these pups, please let us know!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Shepweiller, a robust crossbreed stemming from the German Shepherd Dog and the Rottweiler, originated from the desire to combine the intelligence and trainability of the former with the strength and loyalty of the latter. Physically, they are large, powerful dogs, typically boasting a dense, short to medium coat in black and tan, or solid black. Their temperament is generally confident, protective, and intelligent, making them excellent guard dogs and loyal companions. Early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strong will and protective instincts. While incredibly devoted to their families, their size and exercise needs make them less suitable for small apartments; a home with a fenced yard is ideal. As with many large breeds, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, and they may be prone to certain cancers, so regular veterinary check-ups are important for their long-term well-being.
