Daisy is a 10-month-old 40 lb Yellow Labrador Retriever - Golden Retriever mix READY FOR FOREVER TO BEGIN! Daisy was saved from the streets of the Rio Grande Valley but has been living her best life in a NTX foster home. Daisy is playful, friendly, incredibly smart, and always eager to please. She absolutely loves people and has never met a stranger. Whether she’s playing with other dogs, snuggling on the couch, or learning something new, Daisy approaches everything with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. She has the ideal temperament for a family companion. Daisy has been living with a 6-year-old girl in her foster home, and the two have become the best of friends. She is gentle, affectionate, and patient, making her a wonderful choice for a family with children who have experience around medium to large dogs. With very rare exceptions all dogs over 6 months will be spayed or neutered PRIOR to adoption - dogs under 6 months will include a spay/neuter date AND referral info for lower-cost surgery if the adopter does not choose to use her or his personal vet. OUR VETS WILL NOT PERFORM SPAY NEUTER SURGERIES UNTIL DOG IS 6 MONTHS OLD. General Info - PLEASE READ! A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
