Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Tomato has been waiting at Bradshaw Animal Shelter for over a month, and we're all wondering the same thing: How has this guy not been adopted yet? This handsome 3-year-old Shepherd is everything people love about the breed—smart, athletic, loyal, and happiest when he's sharing an activity with his favorite person. Fetch isn't just a game to Tomato...it's his love language. Toss a ball, and you'll have a best friend for life. Add a kiddie pool or a lake, and you've officially made his day—this boy loves the water!Tomato already knows several tricks and clearly enjoys learning and working with his handler. Like a true Shepherd, he forms a connection with his person and thrives when he has a job to do, whether that's chasing a ball, mastering new commands, or joining you on your next outdoor adventure. With his playful energy and eager-to-please personality, Tomato is looking for an active home that appreciates the intelligence and devotion Shepherds are known for. He'll reward your time and commitment with unwavering loyalty and endless fun. A month in the shelter is far too long for a dog like Tomato. He's ready to trade kennel life for a backyard, a favorite tennis ball, and a family who will love him as much as he'll love them. Come meet Tomato—you might just discover that your perfect adventure partner has been waiting for you all along. Tomato recently met some social dogs at our shelter but he was avoidant and defensive. He didn't seem ready for dog friends right now. He may be ok living with a dog friend that respects his boundaries with slow introductions over a matter of days or weeks, or he may be happiest as an only dog.
