Description
Dog Breed: Anatolian Shepherd (medium coat). Meet Prince! Prince is a 2-year-old Anatolian Shepherd with the heart of a guardian and the personality of a gentle companion. He is looking for a home where he can have a purpose, protect his livestock, and be included as part of the family. Prince has experience working with livestock, including sheep and goats, and understands the job of a livestock guardian. He would do best on a property with secure fencing â a 6-foot fence is ideal, while a 5-foot fence may be possible with attentive supervision. Like many Anatolian Shepherds, Prince may roam if he does not have the boundaries and structure he needs. While he takes his guardian role seriously, Prince is also a sweet, people-oriented dog who enjoys companionship and affection. He would thrive with someone who appreciates the balance of a working dog who also wants to be loved and included in everyday life. He even enjoys the water, adding to his fun-loving side! Prince can be adopted on his own or with his brother Teddy, a 3-year-old Anatolian Shepherd. For someone with a hobby farm, ranch, or livestock and the right fencing setup, these two boys could make an amazing working pair. If youâre looking for a loyal, devoted guardian with a gentle spirit, Prince may be the perfect fit for your property.

Overview:
The Anatolian Shepherd, an ancient and noble breed, hails from the rugged plains of Anatolia (modern-day Turkey), where they served as formidable guardians of livestock for thousands of years. These impressive dogs are renowned for their substantial size, typically weighing between 80-150 pounds and standing 27-29 inches tall, boasting a dense double coat that can range in color but is often fawn with a black mask. Their independent and intelligent nature makes them exceptional working dogs, displaying a strong protective instinct balanced with a calm demeanor. While fiercely loyal to their families, their guardian roots mean they are not ideal for apartment living; they thrive in homes with ample space and a job to do, making them unsuitable for inexperienced owners. With proper socialization and training, they can be wonderful companions, though their watchful nature means they often bond more closely with one or two family members. Generally a robust breed, potential health concerns include hip and elbow dysplasia, and bloat.
