Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle Dog, male 3 years old Bronco was found wandering for some time in Reedley. When his finder opened her car door, he jumped right in like he had been waiting for someone to ask! Animal Control estimated he’s around three years old. He’s clearly an Australian Cattle Dog. Here’s what his finder/foster has to say: The first night, he settled in like he’d always belonged. He ate a good meal, slept… and then slept some more for the next couple of days. It was as if he finally felt safe enough to rest. As the days turned into weeks, despite countless shares and reposts, and efforts to find his owner, it has become clear that he’s not going back to his former home. From the moment he came into our home, he has shown us nothing but kindness. He knows basic commands, walks beautifully on a leash, absolutely loves his oversized tennis ball, and has been wonderful with people and other dogs. The more we’ve gotten to know Bronco, the more we’ve realized he isn’t “just another stray.” He’s loyal, He’s intelligent, He’s gentle, He’s funny and He’s resilient. He’s the kind of dog who quietly works his way into your heart before you even realize it’s happening. While we know we can’t be Bronco’s forever home because of compatibility with our own dog and our family’s circumstances, our commitment to finding him the loving home he deserves has never been stronger. If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy, a faithful companion, a dog who will happily chase a tennis ball, keep you company, and love you with his whole heart… Bronco just might be your guy. Bronco is up to date on vaccines, chipped, and will be neutered as of July 14. More photos, video, and updates: .facebook/.cchdrescue/ search in posts and photo albums. Interested in Bronco? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
