Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Border Collie (medium coat). Border Collie/Cattle dog mix, female Flash is back in rescue. She has been living in La Pine, Oregon (just outside of Bend) with her adoptive family the last few months and unfortunately it’s not working out. Breed savvy adopters in the PNW, now’s your chance at a high drive, high energy, and wickedly beautiful border collie / cattle dog mix. She thrives with routine and structure and would make for a great sport dog. She is dog social and kid friendly. Cats unknown. She is highly alert to wildlife and moving animals, making her current placement in a rural setting with frequent wildlife activity challenging. Regardless of setting, Flash needs a training forward person or family to continue showing her the ropes. If you remember, she spent the first 9 months of her life in someone’s backyard with no exposure to the outside world. She is still learning (and very eager to do so). She knows no strangers. She loves people and is extremely affectionate and sweet. Flash is 11 months old and 40lbs. She is microchipped, spayed, and UTD on vaccines. Flash is in La Pine, Oregon More photos, video, and updates: .facebook/.cchdrescue/ search in posts and photo albums. Interested in Flash? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
