Description
Dog Breed: Golden Retriever. Hi, I'm Goldie. I know I'm black, but don't let that fool you. I am a golden doodle - a mix of a golden retreiver and a poodle. And, I have the sweet personality and smarts to prove it. I'll be the best dog of a lifetime for the lucky person who adopts me. I just weaned my 9 puppies and I'm still young myself. So, I'm ready to be moving on. I'm scheduled to be spayed on Friday, August 14. I can be pre-adopted or go into foster-to-adopt in the meantime. If you're interested in adopting me, please fill out an application at .polkcountyhumanesociety/adopt. You can also reserve an appointment to meet me. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have visits scheduled, so appointments help ensure I’ll be available. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, and we welcome adopters from any state. We have access to a transport to Aurora, CO. Other outofstate adopters either travel to Missouri or arrange & pay for air transport. Virtual meetandgreets are available on the appointment request.

Overview:
The Golden Retriever, a beloved breed originating from the Scottish Highlands in the mid-19th century, was developed for retrieving game from land and water. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs known for their striking golden-colored coats, ranging from cream to dark gold, which are dense and water-repellent. Their gentle eyes and friendly smiles are as characteristic as their feathered tails and strong, well-proportioned bodies. Temperamentally, Golden Retrievers are celebrated for their amiable, intelligent, and devoted nature, making them exceptionally patient and tolerant companions. This makes them superb family dogs, typically great with children and other pets, though their need for space and exercise means they are generally less suited for apartment living. While generally robust, they are prone to certain health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, certain cancers, and eye conditions, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their long-term well-being.
