Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Russell! ???? When Russell and his brother arrived at TCAS on August 5th, they were both incredibly scared of people. They werenât sure what to think of this whole shelter thing, and they needed a little time to realize that people could be their friends. And WOWâwhat a transformation! ???? With some patience, love, and time, Russell has made a 360° turnaround and is now a happy-go-lucky puppy who is ready to enjoy life! Heâs a big boy with the softest heart (and the softest fur!) and he is absolutely adorable.Russell is currently enjoying some time in a foster home, where he can continue to learn, grow, and show off his sweet personality. Russell is good with other dogs and has been great with his foster's kids. ???? Want to meet this big, soft, happy boy? Contact Tulare County Animal Services at 559-636-4050 or tcanimalservicestularecounty.ca.gov to schedule a meet-and-greet!Russell has come such a long way. Now he just needs his forever family to help him keep blooming! ??????

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
