He’s a mid-energy boy who loves to run and play, but at the end of the day wants nothing more than a good cuddle. Zeke will thrive in a home where his good nature and zest for life are appreciated. Zeke reads cues well when meeting new people and will either run right up to say hello or approach more gently. He’s done great with the kids he’s met, and he’s wonderful with other dogs—he’d love to have human or canine siblings in his new home. Zeke hasn’t met cats yet but would likely do well with proper introductions. He’s a playful guy who loves to romp around, but he’ll also take a chew toy into his crate and chew on it for hours on his own. Zeke is a dream in his crate. He settles right away, is happy to snooze through the night, and often goes to his crate to hang out by himself. Zeke is also house trained and loves to go on leash walks, making him an easygoing addition to any home. Zeke Angel is the total package. Could he be your new best friend? A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
