Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Willow is a sweet 3 year old, 29-pound Shepherd mix who would love nothing more than to be your shadow. She loves affection, belly rubs, walks, toys, fetch, and being wherever her people are. She’s a fantastic leash walker and settles nicely after a couple of daily walks. Willow is house and crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. She may whine a little during the day if she hears something fun happening without her! She’s smart, treat-motivated, and eager to keep learning. She does wonderfully with other dogs, especially bigger dogs, but would also be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. Willow can be a little wary of new people and may bark a few times until she decides they’re safe, but she warms up quickly. She’s also working on keeping all four paws on the floor and learning that she doesn’t need to be possessive of her favorite humans, so continued training and positive guidance will help her shine. Older kids may be the best fit. One of Willow’s cutest features is her hilarious little pom-pom tail—it absolutely does not match the rest of her, and we love it! When you sit down to work, don’t be surprised if Willow curls up at your feet and stays there for hours. She’s the perfect little shadow looking for a person to follow home. ❤️ Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
