Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat). Cattle Dog female Welcome Georgia from Tulare County Animal Services. Georgia is a petite, 1 year, 32lb heeler mix. She is super sweet - a little shy at first but will be your best friend once she feels safe. She loves to play with other calm dogs but is not overly excited or rambunctious. She is best friends with the resident senior dog. She comes out of her shell more and more with each passing day. Georgia is looking for a patient adopter who can gently lead her to greatness. Her biggest hurdle right now is her relationship with the leash. It’s evident that she has never been walked on one or has some negative associations with it. Slow and steady wins the race and she’s in good hands with her experienced foster. Stay tuned as she gains confidence and competence on lead. Georgia is microchipped, spayed, and UTD on vaccines. Georgia is in Reedley, CA More photos, video, and updates: .facebook/.cchdrescue/ search in posts and photo albums. Interested in Georgia? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
