She is currently on Fluoxetine 30mg once a day (20mg is $13.00 per month and a 10mg $15.00 per month) and is stable on this. However, adopters should understand that with change in routine there may be set backs and changes may be necessary. In the past she has also been on additional medications as situational management to help her adjust, these may be required as she settles into her new home. Bart would love to grow old with you. Foster Home Feedback ** Dog Selective - best suited as an only animal 8/26/2026 Foster Home Feedback: I've been fostering her for most of the summer of 2026. She's grown a lot in the last couple of months, as her medications for anxiety have been figured out. Being in foster care has really let her flourish compared to how she was at the shelter. We have worked on her separation anxiety and being alone, by increasing the time she is left alone. When she is left outside her kennel she mainly waits by the door for my return or eventually goes and lays down. If there are loud noises, she may rearrange blankets on her dog bed and hide in her kennel. Otherwise, she has been respectful and left out, no counter surfing or tearing into things. Previously it had been reported she does not do well locked in a room, so we haven't done that. With her separation anxiety her kennel has been nothing more than a safe place for her. She will go in there as she wants a safe place, but she is not to the point of shutting the door. Ideally over time the kennel would be a place she can stay with the door shut, but it is just not going to be a quick process if at all worthwhile. Her having the safe place and keeping it, a safe place is a better idea for her than forcing her in. She loves going on short walks, usually getting tired around a mile. After she's gotten a little bit exercise she spends most of her time sleeping. She listens pretty well to commands, like sit, lay down, shake, and leave it. She can get distracted outside and requires a little patience to make sure she hears you. She takes only two pills daily, which can be pretty easy to get down with cheese or meat, you do have to be sly about giving her medications. She's not a very active dog overall, being she prefers to relax in a nice sunbeam or on a couch next to her favorite people. She respects furniture and spaces above her and will not get up there unless you give her the command. She has been doing events, pack walks, and classes. She can have some leash reactivity with dogs that are seemingly charging her, but that is consistently improving, beyond that she is generally really good on walks and being in a fenced in backyard. The neighborhood where she walks is very busy and some people in the area don't feel the need to use leashes, unfortunately. Beyond that Bart is very potty trained and will go to the door when it is time to go out. Bart loves people and has been great around my young nephew and niece. Hopefully Bart can find her home soon, she will love you forever more than you can expect! 6/30/2026 Volunteer Feedback: Bart has experienced significant separation anxiety and requires an impact crate to help keep her safe while kenneled. She is currently in a temporary foster home, where she is making progress with kennel training and continues to build confidence through a consistent routine and positive reinforcement. Bart is reactive to other dogs and is considered dog selective at this time. She will benefit from careful management and slow, structured introductions with any potential canine companions. Depending on the home environment, she may also do well as the only pet. Bart will thrive with an adopter who is committed to continuing her training, understands canine behavior, and is willing to provide the patience, consistency, and structure she needs to succeed.
