Description
Dog Breed: Shiba Inu (long coat). Meet Yoshi, a 4-year-old Shiba Inu with a luxurious double coat, an adorable foxlike face, and a joie de vivre that is impossible to miss. At 22 pounds, this handsome little guy packs a lot of outgoing personality into one very cute package! Agile, affectionate, playful, and smart, Yoshi likes being where the action is. He’s lively, curious, and enthusiastic about pretty much everything, and he has the kind of personality that makes it hard to ignore him. Like many Shibas, Yoshi also has an independent streak and a mind of his own. Yoshi is looking for an active home that will keep his body busy and his clever mind engaged. Walks, playtime, training, puzzle toys, and other enrichment activities will help keep him happy, entertained, and out of mischief. Because Shiba Inus were originally bred as hunting dogs, Yoshi would do best in a home without cats, other small animals, or smaller dogs. If an energetic, fox-faced little character sounds like your kind of dog, Yoshi would be happy to discuss the matter.

Overview:
The Shiba Inu, a spirited and ancient breed originating from Japan, is renowned for its fox-like appearance and independent nature. Historically bred for hunting in mountainous regions, they possess a strong, athletic build with a distinctive curly tail and alert, expressive eyes. Their coat is typically short and dense, often displaying striking red, sesame, or black and tan colors, complete with a creamy "urajiro" underside. Temperamentally, Shibas are known for their intelligence, confidence, and sometimes aloof demeanor, yet they form strong bonds with their families. While they can be excellent companions, their strong prey drive and independent streak mean they require consistent training and socialization from a young age. They adapt well to apartment living provided they receive sufficient daily exercise, but a secure yard is always a plus. Generally a healthy breed, they can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, hip dysplasia, and allergies, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups essential. Their unique personality and striking looks make them a captivating choice for experienced dog owners who appreciate a dog with character.
