Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Six year old Dutchie is adapting to his new environment in foster care. His foster mom has two young children, and notes that he will be much more comfortable in a home with older children that don’t move quickly. He also has shown a great interest in chasing chickens! Not everyone has free-range chickens, so this would not be an issue for most families. Dutchie enjoys going out into the yard on leash for potty time. He has not lived with other dogs, and is learning to be comfortable with others. In the next couple weeks, we will get him into the vet to make sure he’s healthy. (We will hold him for two weeks in a foster home to determine best placement.) PLEASE NOTE: This pet has been posted by Friends of Campbell County Animal Control, Rustburg, VA. All adoptions begin with an application, found under the Adoption Application heading on our website, friendsofcampbellcounty. *Unaltered babies under the age of six months can be adopted only to residents of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, and counties touching Campbell County. *Unaltered adult pets six months or older will need to be sterilized before they can be adopted outside our local area of Campbell County, the City of Lynchburg, or counties touching Campbell. *We do not promote dog adoptions to homes where an invisible fence is the fencing of choice. *We do not permit cats or kittens to be declawed following adoption. We reserve the right to deny adoptions.

They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers.
