Dog Breed: Miniature Pinscher / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Simba, the Miniature Pinscher mix. Simba arrived to the Shelter recently after his previous guardian was moving and unable to take him with them. Simba would thrive in an engaging, active home that will meet his above average need for mental and physical stimulation. His most recent home had him outdoors only and Simba would occasionally escape looking for fun on his home. When left alone, Simba should be securely indoors. This will keep him safe and secure until his people come home. He can be selective in his dog friends and may thrive as the only dog. Simba has history doingw ell in a home with a 3 year old child. A home free of felines is recommended. Simba knows “sit” and “shake”. He does well in the car and has gone for rides up to 3 hours long. His favorite activities in his previous home are zoomies, walking and cuddling. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
