More About Rat-Cha Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

      Location: USA
Posted Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: 150.00. www.thepitstoprescue.com "Your final stop for your furever friend!" CALLING ALL GUARDIAN ANGELS!!!! MEDICAL AND BEHAVIORAL FOSTER NEEDED!!! Honey needs one ASAP! Can you help her?!? Honey was found in a ditch half dead, with so many puncture wounds it was horrible. Our guess was she was made to fight or was a bait dog, either way she was used and dumped to die. Honey is currently at the vets office but this cannot be a permanent place for her. She is not in the best health. We have discovered she has kidney disease, which can be easily managed over time. Most importantly she is not trusting of other dogs at this time. Sometimes she will interact with them, and at other times becomes agitated. It is likely a combination of not feeling well and being beat up by other dogs. Honey needs a place to rest and recuperate. If she cannot find a place to go, we will have to consider what is best for her at that point. Being in a kennel at the vet is NOT what she needs right now in order to reach her full potential as a happy, healthy dog. The vet and staff have said she DEFINITELY has that potential!!! We all believe in her!!! But a critical piece of the equation is a foster with no other animals and no small children (until she starts to feel better) and we can get her to a trainer to evaluate how to slowly expose her to dogs again. If you can SHARE HER STORY or KNOW SOMEONE who can help her PLEASE HELP HONEY FIND THEM!!! While she is in foster, all medical and food expenses will be taken care of. Honey is simply SEEKING QUIET, TLC time!!!! Thank you Pit Stop Rescue SUPPORTERS. Honey is lucky because you NEVER LET US DOWN!!!! To submit a foster application go to www.thepitstoprescue.com! We require that ALL current household pets be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and up to date on heartworm prevention. We will require confirmation from your veterinarian. If renting, we must have landlord approval. A fence is not a requirement for ALL of our dogs. Fences are a case-by-case determination.

      Age: Young
      Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Shar Pei / Mixed (short coat). www.thepitstoprescue.com "Your final stop for your furever friend!" Allie was found in an abandoned trailer park which flooded. We are unsure if she was left there, wandered there or was dropped off there. It was not a safe area, so there is no telling. She was living under one of the trailers. The only friends she had were the stray cats. She is about a 1 and half years old. She is heartworm postive. We also know she has been bred before. No signs of babies though. The rescuer that found her reached out to us for help. Her amazing foster mom says she is very loving and is a big lap dog. We know this baby has been through a lot and was very confused! She deserves a stable happy life! This sweetheart has been treated for heartworms and skin issues that we still do not have a diagnosis for, costing over $1,000 and climbing. We have moved forward with expensive allergy testing and shots that are formulated just for her body. She could be on the shots for 2 years. We don’t know what the future holds for her but we are positive she is worth every penny. She deserves a stable happy life! We want a family to want her despite her hardships. Please help us help her by spreading the word for a loving fmaily to adopt her, or by donating to her medical bills! Our mission is to help save the lives of pit bulls, even if it is one rescue at a time. We are an all-volunteer group of individuals dedicated to the prevention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of these beautiful, loyal, and fun-loving dogs. We are a foster based rescue that relies on donations to offset the cost of vetting. We are a certified 501c3 Non-Profit Organization [Tax-ID 61-1577592]. We give a voice and a safe haven for the very misunderstood, neglected and abused pit bull breed. We believe in giving the pit bulls we pull into our rescue program the best options possible for their health and well-being for the rest of their lives. Much love and thanks from our very own warrior, Allie!!
