Posted Breed: Rat Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Chloe came from a high kill shelter with just week old pups. A few days later Chloe was diagnosed with Parvo and needed fluids and meds right away. Immediatly her pups were taken from her so that she may get better. Chloe is all better now and is now spayed. She is a really sweet girl who loves to cuddle and sleep in bed with you. She is also crate trained but prefers the people bed. She is good with kids and other dogs too! Learning to walk on a leash...still just a bit nervous about that. ***was spayed on 3/17 Shots up to date wormed with Nemex, frontline applied, micro chipping is available at no additional charge Adoption cost for this dog is $100 We are a rescue, and do not have a physical shelter to visit. All of our dogs/pups are currently being fostered in the Central Valley so please be willing to make the trip to see them if you are from out of the area. Our adoption process REQUIRES that an application must first be submitted and approved prior to meeting any of our pets. Just note that we may get several responses on one pet at a time so just because you have an approved application does not mean said pet is on hold for you. One must FIRST confirm an appointment to meet the pet after an approved application has been sent. To inquire about this specific pet, please write to pupznpalz@yahoo.com for an application. Please remember to put the pets name in the subject line when emailing, and on the top on the application. It helps us to help you that must faster. We are a group of volunteers, and ask that you please bare with us. We will get to each person just as quickly as we can. If you do not hear back from us within 24 hours, please send another request as we have been having problems with e-mail. Or feel free to contact Karri at 209-480-8662 between normal business hours of 9-6. Please note: The email address pupznpalz@aol.com is no nonger active. More About Rat-Cha Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

She's slowly warming up and is very sweet. She's about 50 lbs or so, so a medium/large breed. Quieter home preferred for her as she is still pretty scared. Posted Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Tillie is a very special needs pup in that she has water on the brain (Hdrocephalus). This means no children, no stairs, no larger dogs (she currently plays with pups her size), and no swimming pools around this little girl. Who ever adopts here is going to have to be very careful of her head and that it doesn't get injured, as she has a large open fontanel on top of her head. Here is more info http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2105&aid=448 She was dropped off at our local shelter at just 4 weeks old and was told to be pts because of her condition. The shelter notified us and we immediately went to get her out to ensure this did not happen. She's just over 4 months now as we waited to make sure spaying her was an option. She is now spayed and chipped, and ready to go. Very sweet, and energetic at first, but does calm down. Lots of that typical puppy energy. ****PLEASE DO NOT CALL TO CHECK STATUS OF A DOG...PHONE CALLS ARE FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY.
