Posted Breed: Rat Terrier / Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: $350. ATTN: If you have questions, or are interested in meeting this fantastic pet, please visit our website at: www.goodkarmamn.org and click on Adoption Application. Queenie-Queen bee Favorite pastimes: Sleeping by the fire, or snuggling with her people. Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix Spayed female Approximately 9-10 years old Approximately 7 pounds Good with dogs? Queenie tolerates the other dogs in her foster home, but she would really prefer to be the only dog in her home. Good with cats? Unknown Good with kids? Yes, Queenie lives with a 10 and 13 year old and loves them, but may prefer older/respectful children due her tiny size and advanced age. Crate trained? No, but almost there House Trained? No, but almost there Energy level: Low Shedding amount: Average for breed Queenie lives up to her name; she is the queen of the castle! She is a calm little lady who loves nothing more than to lay by the fire on a cold day and sleep. Queenie mostly ignores her furry siblings in her foster home but will occasionally bark at them if they enter her space. She has never hurt them, as she is very tiny and gentle, and perhaps worries about them because she is so small. For this reason she would love to be an only pet. Queenie has been a joy to have around, and her foster family is smitten! The children in her foster home are 10 and 13 years old and are very respectful of her space; she does very well with them and has even started to want to snuggle on the couch with the little girl. At the end of her day, Queenie loves nothing more than to snuggle up under your covers for bed. If you would like a gentle, sweet, quiet companion that is easy to have around, then you must meet Queenie; you won't regret it! My adoption fee is $350. All of Good Karma's dogs are given monthly heartworm and flea/ tick preventative YEAR-ROUND while in foster care. The adoption fee INCLUDES: - Spay/neuter - All age-appropriate distemper vaccines - Rabies Vaccine - Deworming - Heartworm test (in dogs over 8 months of age) - Microchip - LIFETIME microchip registration (free updates for life as well) - Any other veterinary treatments or procedures that our director and partner veterinarians deemed were necessary for optimal health or quality of life while the dog was in our care, including x-rays, bloodwork, surgeries, or dental procedures. - State-Required Sales Tax *Good Karma adopts out animals within a 60 mile radius of the Twin Cities, or a 30 minute radius of Duluth and Rochester* Please visit www.goodkarmamn.org to fill out an adoption application. Once the application is received, and awesome representative of Good Karma will contact you to answer any questions you may have and/or set up a time for you to meet your new pet! Good Karma Animal Rescue’s approval process includes conducting a home visit before adopters take their new pet home. **Note on breed and age determination: Good Karma Animal Rescue of MN bases our breed and age determinations on appearance, our own knowledge, veterinarian advice, and/or information from the sending shelters or previous owners. Because most of our adoptable dogs were previously in shelters, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s breed mix, and unless there is a specific date of birth listed, we can’t be 100% sure of a dog’s age. Additionally, our assessments of a dog's interactions with other dogs, cats, or children are based on OUR experiences. Your experience may differ.

More About Rat Terrier Breed
If you’re looking to adopt a dog and don’t know where to start, puppyfinder.com is an excellent source for information about adopting a dog and will connect you with hundreds of shelters across the US that have adoptable puppies and older dogs waiting for forever homes.
  1. Do your research – find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle – before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you’re about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don’t have time for potty training and obedience classes you’ll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies – It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don’t be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet.
  4. Start looking… Once you know what you’re looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can’t get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.

Favorite pastimes: I love to be outdoors in warm weather-I love to run and leap and play! I also love my toys and hiding under soft blankets for quiet naps. And I REALLY LOVE PEOPLE! Miniature Pinscher Spayed female Approximately 7 years old Approximately 15 pounds Good with dogs? Nixie would prefer to be the only pet in her home. Good with cats? No, she will chase them. Good with kids? Older/respectful (10+) children. Crate trained? Yes, but not required-very well behaved! House Trained? Yes-completely! Energy level: Medium/average Shedding amount: Light shedding Hi There! I’m Nixie, and I just LOVE people! I get really excited when I see my leash, because it means that I am going for a walk or a ride in the car-and that usually means that I can meet new people! Humans are great don’t you think? I mean, they give me treats and toys and affection and love…seriously, I would take the company of people over other pets any day! I would love to live in a house full of people, or even with just one special person that has lots of company or takes me on walks or adventures! I also love my toys and treats! My foster mom does “training sessions” with me. She thinks treats are my reward for doing what she asks me-little does she know that I actually have her trained to give me treats! She tells me all of the time what a wonderful little dog I am! I guess that is probably true! Hey, I have an idea! If you fill out an application, I could meet you too! Gosh, I sure would love that, and I can’t wait to see you soon! *Note: Nixie has a slight deformity of her nose (snout). It turns up a bit and is the cause of her adorable grin, and at times limits her vision. She is a very-very happy dog! And oh so sweet! My adoption fee is $200. All of Good Karma's dogs are current on heartworm/flea and tick preventative while in foster care, spayed/neutered, and are adopted with all age-appropriate distemper vaccines, rabies vaccine, deworming, microchip, and heartworm test (in dogs over 6 months of age). *Good Karma adopts out animals within a 60 mile radius of the Twin Cities, or a 30 minute radius of Duluth and Rochester* Please visit www.goodkarmamn.org to fill out an adoption application.
