Description
*Growler (what we've named him, though he's not trained to it yet) is such a great little dog. He loves playing tug of war with our other dogs, enjoys belly rubs *so much*, and loves a good cuddle. He is most snuggliest, loving little pup that will smother you with kisses! He does however, have very tight nostrils. He may need surgery to open them (stenotic nares, that genetic malformation sometimes happens on the shorter-nosed dogs, Shih Tzus being one of those). Thankfully, he hasn't let that slow him down, and will run and wrestle with even my adult dogs. After surgery, he should have a perfectly normal, long life! And without surgery he also may be fine... plenty of other short faced dogs get through life (think bulldogs, pugs, frenchies, etc.). Typically the nostrils will become less problematic as they grow, and being from larger Shih Tzus, he may be fine. You'll just have to be aware of possible health issues that go along with these little pups (mostly just colds - I don't have any reason to believe he'll have problems exercising based on his current abilities). Because he has a tighter nose than we normally have in my pups, and the possibility of issues later, we have him up for adoption - no cost. But please know that besides that, we still stand behind our pups - they all have great personalities and training. No issues with loud noises, no resource guarding, no anxiety. Trained to be with and cared for by small children. He's not quite leash trained, but I've begun that process. I started housebreaking last week, and haven't had an accident in the house yet (though he stays outside with his mama and "aunt" for a few hours a day). He is also crate trained for night time, but if he needs to be contained during the day I recommend that he goes in a larger pen with a litter box.
