    Eddy

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed. Shy Eddy may not have had the most rewarding beginning. It is hard for him to trust, and consequently he can be very shy and scared. He has had to learn how to defend himself against the world and now needs someone to help him learn to trust again. He puts on a brave face at first, but that is not the real Eddy – he is actually terrified that someone might hurt him, so he keeps them at a distance. Eddy is quite the ladies man! Go ahead and play a little hard to get and he will be intrigued! He may even try to crawl into your lap to give you kisses! Guys arent nearly as much fun for this shy guy – he finds them to be rather intimidating and scary. Once he knows you, he is an amazing little friend! When he is comfortable he loves to chase toys, sniff things, and be like every other dog. Eddy would love to be in a nice mellow home where he can relax. Relaxing is almost as important as playing for this guys well being! He needs to know that he is safe and that he has a confident and quiet leader to help him see that the world isnt such a bad place and that people can be fun!If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at www.caws.org.

    Willie

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Parker, KS
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Willie is a typical border collie who loves to run and play. He is shy at first so she would do best with older children. He would do good with other dogs to play with since she has been with his sisters all his life. She will be neutered, current on vaccines, rabies and wormed. He will have a heartworm test and microchip. If you would like to meet him you can email wigglebuttsrescue@yahoo.com or text or call 816-809-0217.

    Yvette D1617...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Eden Prairie, MN
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Name: Yvette Age: 1 year Gender: Female Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd mix Weight: 27 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: NO - high prey drive Kid friendly: Older, respectful children - may be too rambunctious & mouthy for toddlers or young children House trained: Yes, on a schedule Crate trained: Yes (crated at night and when we're at work) Energy level: HIGH History: From a shelter in Kentucky Adoption Fee: $350 From the Foster: Yvette's favorite toys, activities, etc: She LOVES Going for walks, trying to chase squirrels/bunnies/cats, eating, getting pet, playing with other dogs (although she is too rambunctious for seniors or much smaller dogs), enjoys bouncing a racquetball and chewing on some toys. Yvette is very sweet but still mostly a puppy and a high-energy breed, so her forever family must actively want to spend quality time with her, giving her attention and A LOT of exercise. She will do best with a securely fenced yard and a canine playmate of similar energy level; otherwise, she needs at least 2 long walks a day and active playtime. Without a lot of exercise and interaction, Yvette will get bored and when she's bored, she gets destructive. She sleeps through the night in her crate and stays in her crate for up to 8 hours while we're at work without messing in it. However, she needs regular and frequent letting out when we're home. Yvette is very smart and in less than a week has learned "sit", "wait", "shake", "down", and "off". She does well with lots of positive reinforcement and redirection. She will resource-guard high-value treats like beef ears but can be given regular biscuits at the same time as other dogs. We feed Yvette in a separate area from our resident dogs, just to avoid potential issues. She will bark occasionally at passers-by or other dogs but does not bark excessively. Overall, Yvette seems like a typical border collie mix - smart, sweet, energetic, and playful. All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION TODAY! Blake

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Cheyenne, WY
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Blake is a very handsome and predictably smart herding dog mix. He came to us as a stray so we do not know what his life was like prior to coming to BDAR. Blake is a bigger herding dog with long legs and lean frame that weighs 50 pounds. In typical border collie style, Blake is busy and intense, and tends to lean on and show some friendly herding behaviors with people. He can be playful and affectionate and is always eager to learn and perform new behaviors. Blake is not a good fit for a home with cats but we think he should be compatible with children over 5. Blake generally gets along well with other dogs but occasionally takes exception to certain other males. We would prefer to see him in a home with female dogs only, but would consider a meet and greet for another male dog. He shows alpha male tendencies and may take exception to another male dog with a strong personality. This great dog is enrolled in our DOG Project program and will graduate around December 2nd. DOG Project dogs are paired with prison inmate handlers for a period of at least 6 weeks where they learn basic obedience and agility, leash walking, crate training, and handling skills. Project graduate adopters can look forward to a head start in training if they choose to further it upon adoption. Ask us about Blake soon, this handsome guy won't be available for long! If you are not viewing this adoption listing from our website at www.bdar.org, please go there to get more information, find our adoption application, or submit an inquiry. Our pets are listed for adoption on multiple pet listing sites and we do not always have control over whether those sites are regularly or accurately updated. We also cannot guarantee we will receive forms or inquiries submitted through these 3rd party sites. For questions, call us at 307-214-6600.

    Brooklyn

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Fargo, ND
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Foster Feedback 11/23/16 Meet Brooklyn! She is an active little girl who loves to play fetch. She has adjusted very quickly into her foster home and has become a fun member of the family! People: She does great with strangers, she may bark for a moment as they walk up but she is all tail wags after that. She does not show any aggression with new people and is not afraid of anyone. The youngest child in the foster home is 13 and she does great with him and his friends. She also sleeps in his bed every night. She will whine or bark some when she hears the rest of the family still awake but quiets for the night when the rest of the household is in bed. Animals: Brooklyn is doing perfect with the many animals in the foster home. DOGS: She currently has 2 large dogs that she is living with and she loves to wrestle, chase and nap with them. The only issue that her foster has found is that, like many dogs, Brooklyn is resource possessive if given a bone. If she is with another bone possessive dog, they need to be put into different rooms or kennels until the bones are gone. Thankfully she is not possessive about toys- the dogs play tug and chase with the toys and have had zero issues. As far as food, the foster always feeds the dogs in separate rooms so they have had no issues with food aggression between Brooklyn and the resident dogs. The foster has noticed that Brooklyn always seems to do some growling when she meets dogs but she has not been aggressive during the introductions. She will even growl as she is reunited with the dogs in the home every morning. Nothing ever comes of it so it seems to be her way of saying hello. CATS: Brooklyn is doing great with the multiple adult cats in the home. She does not chase them or bother them after the initial meet. She loves small kittens but probably shouldn't be trusted alone with them or similar small animals. She seems to have the small animal chase/herding instinct and has had only closely supervised visits with them. Kenneling: The foster has never had to kennel Brooklyn because she is a very good girl when they are gone. She has not destroyed anything in the household or had any accidents and she is able to go from 7am-4pm without having any accidents. She also sleeps from 10pm-7am without having to go outside. Training: Brooklyn seems to have minimal training. She will only sit if she knows you have a treat. She is a very smart dog and would probably pick up and benefit from basic training and/or agility training. She also will need some training on the leash. She will pull when walked on the leash and because she is only 33 pounds it is easy to control her but it would be better if she was worked with so she had leash manners. She also seems to get a bit anxious on car rides. She will whine and go from window to window unless a window is open for her. She would benefit from some exposure therapy of taking her places often in the car or some longer trips in hopes that she would realize that a car ride can be a relaxing and enjoyable thing to do.
