    Nikki

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (long coat). Nikki is a beautiful, 9 year old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix! She was relinquished to us because her mom had some health issues and was unable to care for Nikki any longer. She is used to living in a home, therefore, she is already housebroken and knows basic commands! She also gets along with other dogs (she sometimes tries to herd them though). Nikki is spayed, up to date on vaccines and is in good health but does have some allergies that can be managed with medication. She has a bit of anxiety from losing her home but is a sweetheart. Although she is pretty mellow, she enjoys some play time and would love to be part of a new family.

    Jack

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed (medium coat). "Jack has exceptional intelligence – I am not going to tell you HE wrote this but I know if he had he would have said: I was at the shelter before and found a wonderful, loving home. I loved those folks so much and enjoyed walking with them off leash and laying at their feet and riding in the pick-up. I responded when they called and constantly watched for them to indicate what I was supposed to be doing. However, I messed up --- I thought that if I did not know someone who came to the door I should be suspicious of them if they seemed to be scared of me and maybe even growl – so I did. They would have forgiven that, I think, if I had not gotten too intent in my desire to protect “my people". I did not understand about grandchildren and how very special they are ---and that they are supposed to get lots of attention, even though it might be taking attention and love that I thought was mine. I am ashamed to say I nipped at a kid and no one had seen why. And unfortunately in another setting I did bite an adult that reached to pick up an item that I thought was a toy for me to play with. So, here I am looking for a family that knows that I am both quick to learn and intensely loving and devoted to folks who make me theirs " Jack was returned to Safe Haven after these bites in his adoptive home, so he was sent to a professional trainer to assess Jack's safety and if he was safe, to learn what type of home that would be most ideal for him. After many months, Jack is back at Safe Haven and Robin, the trainer, let us know Jack is a nice dog, that deserves another chance in a home better suited for him. He does need a home where he is an only dog, and with no children. Jack actually did very well with his obedience training, and as it says above, he definitely is an intelligent dog! Robin is willing to talk and even meet with any potential adopters and make sure they understand what type of home and training Jack will do best in - but most of all Jack will need an owner that is willing to take the "lead of the pack" role. Jack's new owner will also need to take seriously what can happen when Jack is around new people, and be willing to kennel Jack or keep him in another safe room away from company when they visit. So if you consider yourself fairly dog savy, and are looking for a great young companion, that would love to further his obedience training - Jack may just be a perfect match for you - please contact us and come meet Jack! Breed: Border-Aussie

Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (long coat). For Adoption: Cora is a young and pregnant sweet girl. Her previous owner went into rehab and dumped Cora at a friends house who kept her tied up to a dog house. This poor girl was determined not to spend her life on a chain and she'd break free and go to a neighbors for love and attention. The neighbor contacted our rescue partners in TN, but the new owners refused to give her up. The next time she escaped, the neighbor told them she had a friend that wanted to purchase Cora. They said they really needed the money and sold her. The neighbor then turned Cora over to the rescue. Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Forrest is UNBELIEVABLABLY cute!! His pictures do not do him justice. He is a little fellow, weighing less than 25 pounds. Forrest very much enjoys the company of his fur-siblings and therefore must go to a home with at least one other playful dog. He loves to run around the yard, but also enjoys snuggling on the couch. He is housetrained too! Note: The videos show Sheldon, Forrest, and their foster brothers

Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed (medium coat). 10 month old fluffy Pup Hope is a super sweet, friendly 10 month old Border Collie/Australian Shepherd pup that was picked up as a stray by Douglas Animal Control. We are guessing on the breeds and between the shelter and the vet this was our best guess. She is absolutely beautiful. She has had a great time playing on the farm, so with a bath, she will be florescent white. Hope will probably end up maturing at approximately 50 pounds. Hope gets along with other dogs, she is great in the house, although she is an active breed and will need exercise and mental as well as physical activities. She would be a great candidate for agility, obedience or any dog sports. She w ill also be a great companion for an active family. Hope is located in South East Arizona in a foster home. Her foster mom makes frequent trips to Tucson for meet and greets. 602-316-8919 no texts please

    Jax

    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Border Collie / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Hi there, I'm Jax! Nice to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was brought into the county shelter as a stray and it was really scary. I didn't know anyone and my people never came to get me. Luckily for me though, the people at ACT fell in love with me right away and took me to a safer place. They quickly began referring to me as the "staff favorite". I was told that I was now at a place where I was going to get the care I needed. I didn't feel very good at first, and I heard the doctors say I had something called heartworm. Whatever it was, it was bad. I had to take lots of medicine to get better and they wouldn't let me run or play while I was being treated. But now they say I am all better and all I need are responsible parents who will keep me on heartworm preventative and get my annual heartworm tests for the the rest of my life. Sounds easy enough to me! Even though I am a senior, I still have some spunk! I love all people and love all the attention I can get. I have to follow my people all over the house, so that I always know where they are. Only older, respectful kids for me though! I am delicate in my old age and can't handle the rambunctious antics of most little ones. I get along with other dogs as long as they leave me alone. I prefer to take naps instead of playing with other doggy friends and I can get a little grumpy if the other dogs don't leave me alone. I might do best in a house where I get all the human attention to myself, or in a home with other quiet, mellow dogs who also enjoy sleeping a lot. :) I am an indoor only doggy. I HATE being outside by myself. One of my absolute favorite things is to go on car rides. I just get so excited when my foster parents walk to the garage door. I always think they are going to bring me with them wherever they are going. I like walks and walk pretty well on a leash too. People always stop and pet me on outings because they can't resist my constant smile. Come say hi to me and you will fall in love too. I will always rest at your feet and you will never be alone. I will be by your side forever. {s3344code3031/} All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption. Every pet adoption comes with a free health exam in the first two weeks, provided by Pet Medical Center, Fresno, http://petmedcenterfresno.com/ Adoption Fees: Dog Adoption Donation: $185 Cat Adoption Donation: $65

    Hoss (CP)

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed. Howdy, I'm Hoss and just like my Bonanza namesake I'm a gentle giant who'd do anything for my family. I'm a 54lb, 6 yr old Aussie mix, Just look at my beautiful silver markings!!! I'm eager to please and full of fun. I love cuddles and my tail is always wagging. I know how to sit, and I'm learning shake and stay. I am house trained/crate trained and I love going on car rides. I know how to sit nicely in the truck cab and enjoy the view. My gorgeous smile will win you over and my big goofy paws and fluffy wiggle butt would love to find a place to rest at your home. I'm a good pub dog and enjoy going out to places with my foster mom. I have a sad back story in that my human momma and poppa both died and I was left chained up on a rural property until a kind rescue group stepped in and got me to safety before the cold weather set in. I'm eager to please and promise to be loyal to you for the rest of my days. How bout we meet up sometime soon?

    Sargent/Schn...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Border-Aussie
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Mixed (medium coat). Sargent was adopted from EHR when he was a 9-month-old pup but due to a change in his owner's situation, he will be returning to us to find a new home. He is an active 3 year old (going on 4) who weighs a little over 50 lbs. He loves to be around people and kids but would not be characterized as cuddly. Sargent, now renamed Schnebly, gets along with other dogs and currently lives with two cats. He is not aggressive toward the cats but shows interest and follows/chases until a hiss or a swat puts an end to any potential play. Although he is not a big barker, he will howl with excitement when it's time for a walk. Other than the excitement he shows when he meets people or before walks he is a very calm dog. Schnebly is a very sweet and well behaved boy but he suffers from severe separation anxiety. He is crate trained but the ideal home for him would be where someone is with him most of the time or there is another dog who would be the leader of the pack If you can provide the home that would best suit Schnebly, please fill out an application at www.ehrdogs.org & ask for him by name - SARGENT/SCHNEBLY!
