    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (short coat). Sweet Sam I Am. This 4 year old boy is sweet, loves to snuggle and is seeking a playmate. Sam loves other dogs and enjoys the rough and tumble romp around time with his foster sister. Play, play, play. Morning, noon and night! Sam is fully crate trained. We think he has spent a lot of time in the crate. He does not mind it and settles nicely. However, he prefers cuddling with his humans. Sam would definitely benefit from a positive reward based training class. He gets so excited he forgets his manners. Because he is so excitable, he could easily knock over a young child. He does know sit, down, and wait. He is getting better at the basics every single day. He has little recall and cannot be trusted off leash. Sam’s new family will need a sizeable yard that includes a 6 ft fence. He is very eager to please and will learn quickly. If you are patient, tolerant of few bad behaviors (counter surfing) and looking for a lover boy, then Sam is your man! Sam loves to go on long walks, car rides and of course, play, play, play! If you would like to make Sam a member of your family, then please complete the on-line application by visiting www.NBRAN.org, Adoption Center, Adoption Application. Once the application has been completed, you may email Susan at wanbran@comcast.net for additional questions. He is healthy, UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative, (on preventative), neutered, and micro chipped. His adoption fee will be $375 to offset his vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members.

    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hi! I'm Rusty and I'm on the hunt for the perfect family. I'm hoping to find someone who is looking for an older gentleman like me (I'm 9ish). Someone who will want to take me places or just hang out. I love going to the dog park (I like all dogs), to the beach, hanging out in the yard...whatever you want to do, I'm up for it! I had a rough start in life so I can be a bit timid at first. Foster mom has tried to get me to talk about my past but I prefer to keep quiet. In fact, she says I'm so quiet she's only ever heard me bark in my dreams. I like all people of all sizes but due to so much change in my life, I am a bit of a nervous nelly so I probably wouldn't want to live in a house with small children. I'm a quiet boy and am looking for a quiet home. I'm good with foster mom's cat though so cats are a-okay! I am crate trained but I don't need to crated when left alone. I'm neutered, up to date on all my shots and heart worm negative and I totally rock my doggie Mowhawk! I'm housebroken, good on leash and just very CALM. Low maintenance I've been told. My adoption fee is $200 but if you're a senior, we would qualify for a senior to senior adoption at $100! So, if you like to be my new people, go ahead and fill out an application then you can contact Linda Norton at linda@springerlabs.com or Sandra Toal at sandratoal18@gmail.com. I'm currently located in Coburg, Ontario (Canada) but NBRAN can transport me if needed....BUT since I am a nervous boy, my foster thinks it's best if my new family met me in person before they adopt me.

    Age: Adult
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Are you looking for energetic, distinct Brittany characteristics, and full time companion? Then look no further because we have the boy for you! This is Scout. He is an 8 year old, orange and white male weighing 45 pounds. Scout is perfectly content to stay at home all day, hang out on the weekends, so long as he receives his proper quota of daily exercise and stimulation. He does best on a long line so that he can explore at his own pace. He would make a perfect work out partner. Scouts new home will require a secure 6ft fence and spacious yard. Like most britts, he is fascinated with squirrels, therefore, a home without small animals and cats is a must. He successfully completed a 6 week Basic Obedience class. Scout will thrive if he could continue to Advanced Obedience and would even be successful obtaining a Canine Good Citizen title. He is smart and eager to please! Scout needs a Brittany experienced family that understand his needs and that can be dedicated to him. Active retired or empty nesters would be excellent. He is crate trained, but he prefers to lounge on the couch listening to soothing music. His all time favorite position is "frog dog". He has proven to be trustworthy when you are at the movie or running errands. If you are looking for a faithful, intelligent, active companion, then please complete the on-line application by visiting www.NBRAN.org , Adoption Center, Adoption Application. Once the application has been completed, you may email Lora at hawaii18797@gmail.com for additional questions. He is healthy, UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative, (on preventative), neutered, and micro chipped. His adoption fee will be $200 to offset his vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. Scout is eligible for our wonderful Senior-to-Senior program. If you are a senior, age 60 or over, his adoption fee is $100.

    Breed: Brittany

Posted Breed: Brittany / Australian Shepherd (medium coat). A gentle soul.....Belle is an affectionate and sensitive 6 year old girl who loves to be with her people. We believe she is a Brittany mix. Unfortunately, Belle spent her entire life living outside in the hot sun, chained, so that she would not jump a 3ft fence. Now that she is an NBRAN girl, life is wonderful! She will need couch and human bed privileges to feel bonded to her humans. She is 100% trustworthy in the bed at night and sleeps like a baby, sometimes hearing a little yawn or snore. We are making up for lost cuddle time, and she can’t get enough. She loves to have her belly rubbed and will instantly roll over and invite you to pet her. She has a wonderful spirit that is playful and almost puppy-like. When she wakes up in the morning, she needs to go out right away. She thrives on a routine and needs reassurance that she will always be allowed back inside. She would love it if her new family worked from home or was retired. Outside she is learning to play ball and loves to explore around the yard. Belle must have a 6ft fenced yard. Belle loves to play with another dog that is willing to play. Belle is great with both male and female dogs. Belle would prefer a fur sibling of similar size and one who is very friendly. She is very alert and watches you for instruction. She knows basic commands and is very willing to learn more. Belle would excel in an obedience class and it will allow her and her new family to bond. A positive reward based class would help Belle become even more confident. This little sweet heart is eager to please. Belle is not letting her past dictate her future. She is healthy, UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative, (on preventative), spayed, and micro chipped. Belle’s adoption fee will be $275 to offset her vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making Belle a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting www.NBRAN.org, Adoption Center, Adoption Application. Posted Breed: Brittany / Shepherd. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant. Sweet, shy Nia...life so far has not been very kind to her. She has never learned about a gentle touch which says "You are my girl and I love you". So beautiful, with a silky, pettable coat, she doesn't know the feeling of being petted or cared for. She doesn't know it's all about to change. We want so much to tell her, but it seems her foster will show her soon now what it's like to be valued. What it's like to be a family member. And most of all, how it feels to be loved. Imagine her joy at her own, soft bed, instead of a hard, concrete floor. Think about her seeing her food bowl full of good things. Humans with hands raised, not to hit her, but to touch her softly. Nice walks. Backyard play. Nia is a wonderful dog, waiting to blossom. Maybe you would like to be part of the process? Let the healing begin. NOTE: To keep Nia extra safe, we will require a secure fenced area for her for any adoption. If you are interested in Nia, please contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***

    MD/Trixie (A...

    rescue
    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hi ya’ll, my name is Trixie and I’m a truly fantastic 4 year old. My foster mom says I am the sweetest, mellowest and most lovable Britt she’s ever met. I’m easy going, laid back and greet everyone I meet with a big Brittany smile and tush wag (after all, we Britts don’t have much of a tail). I’m always well behaved and calm inside the house. I’m completely housebroken, use a dog door to go outside when needed, and I’ve never been the least bit destructive when left home (no need to crate me). I was house trained via the dog door, so you might have to teach me about “asking to go outside” if you don’t have one. My foster dad says I’m a good girl with a great smile who’s always eager to please. Without fail, I come to you the minute my name is called, whether we’re inside or out, but I admit it sometimes takes me a moment to hear you when I’m in squirrel chase mode. I know how to wait when asked. I sit on command and while being harnessed for a walk, and to get dinner served. I pull hard on the leash so would benefit from some basic obedience training — but being so eager to please, I will learn quickly and happily do what you want once I understand. I always want to be next to my foster parents and will usually stay within a few feet of my foster folks day and night. I am fairly low energy and love nothing more than to cuddle on the couch and chew a rawhide while we watch TV or sleep in bed next to you. I have mild anxiety about being left alone and sometimes cry by the door when my family first leaves me. For this reason, my fosters think I would do best in a household where someone is home most of the time. Another dog in the house would be nice, but having a person around most of the time is really key. I love hanging out and playing with my foster dog brother - we wrestle, play tug, run in the yard and chase squirrels together. We usually are near one another and sleep side by side. I give big kisses to our cat and I’m very gentle with her. I even let the cat lay next to my face as I chew a rawhide and run past me without chasing her. Oh yeah, I did I mention I really love my rawhides! Foster Mom says I”m “a one dog lovefest" because all of the neighborhood kids stop by to give me loving! I am so happy to see them and I’m gentle enough to even play with the little ones. I’m very sensitive and instinctively knew how to behave around a youngster with special needs. Foster dad says I’m an old sole in a young dogs body. Notes from Trixie’s foster mom: Trixie is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve ever cared for. She is naturally good natured, loving, happy and gentle. The words that best describe her are gentle and sensitive. She’s very laid back and probably the mellowest 4 year old Britt one could imagine. While only 4 years old, her behavior is more like that of an older dog -- she's laid back and low activity. She likes to play and lrun, but she has little stamina and doesn't last long. She'd be a great dog for someone who is retired, less active, or just doesn't want a rowdy dog. Trixie is a bit overweight and we are working on her diet. Her activity level needs to be kept up. It’s easy to do because she loves her daily walks and loves to be outside with us. She pulls hard on the leash and therefore must be on a harness (not a collar). We try to keep up her exercise by having her chase a laser dot (cat toy) around the yard every evening. While instinctively well behaved, Trixie still needs some basic some obedience training. She knows to sit for on command, for treats and dinner, and even while being harness. But she has not had any leash training and pulls hard on walks and should be trained for loose leash walking. She is generally shy when meeting new dogs and we usually let her pick the speed at introductions. She is submissive and gets intimidated by aggressive dogs. If the dog is calm and friendly she usually warms up pretty quickly. Trixie does not enjoy being in the car and must be crated on car rides to help ease her anxiety. Trixie loves to go on walks! She pulls like crazy and needs a bit of work on her leash manners. She knows to sit when asked, before eating, for treats and when being harnessed for walks. She sleeps in bed with us at night and on the couch during the "TV time" in the evening. She loves chewing on rawhides, but above all else she loves to chase that laser spot (cat's toy) across the yard. If interested in Trixie please contact Lisa Giddings at: rlgiddings@yahoo.com. Trixies adoption fee is $375. This allows us to continue to save more Britts and provide needed Veterinarian care and any other needs. We also transport up to 1400 miles using our Canine Railroad.

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Meet Miss (lucky) Penny. She’s so sweet you can’t help but fall in love with her. Penny doesn’t know she’s thirteen. She thinks she’s still a young dog. She loves to play with her foster sister, and looks forward to walks and car rides. Don't let this petite 27 pound girl fool you. She has an adventurous spirit so she will escape if she is not watched carefully. Penny will need the security of a fenced yard to run around in. She is friendly to other dogs and absolutely loves people. Penny has a great appetite and doesn’t notice that she is missing teeth and that the ones there are not that great. A bully stick is Penny’s favorite thing to chew; however, she gets excited about any snack that might come her way. Because Penny is slightly under weight, she will need to remain on a high quality, grain free kibble. She makes sure she never misses a meal. Penny’s hearing isn’t quite what it used to be but she doesn’t miss out on anything. She loves being part of a pack, but doesn’t seem to mind when left on her own as long as her soothing puppy music is playing in the background. She would be fine being an only dog if she gets lots of attention and is part of the family. Penny is healthy (passed a senior blood panel), UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative, (on preventative), spayed, and micro chipped. Her adoption fee will be $200 to offset her vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making Penny a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting www.NBRAN.org, Adoption Center, Adoption Application. Once the application has been completed, you may email Lora at hawaii18797@gmail.com for additional questions. Penny is eligible for our wonderful Senior-to-Senior program. If you are a senior, age 60 or over, her adoption fee is $100.

    VA (MI)/Coop...

    rescue
    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Male Male
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hi, I'm Cooper! Don't you wanna be my friend?! Everybody wants to be my friend! At least that's what I think, so I make sure to greet you with lots of hugs and kisses. Foster mom says I shouldn't, and I'm working on that, but I'm just SO excited to have FRIENDS! I'm not as excited about my foster sisters, the pup or kitty kind, but I tolerate them and sometimes I like to play, too. I just really prefer to be with my human. I LOVE laying on the couch and especially the bed. Wiggling around on my back feels amazing - see, I have a slight injury on my back that makes my nerves really sensitive, so it just feels awesome to roll around for a minute. Sometimes I have a hard time getting up on the bed, especially in the morning...the doctor says that's because I have a little bit of arthritis in my hips. I'm an old guy, what can I say? Besides my back and hips, I do have some slight issues with my kidneys and some allergies, but my foster family takes good care of me so it doesn't bother me much anymore. Mom always makes sure I have lots of water and I get special food from the doctor, and two happy pills every day! (I think Mom is lying...I know one is for my kidneys and the other for my itchies...) The doctor says that with this routine I'm gonna be a healthy boy for a long time - yippee! I'm super happy about that because, for the first time that I can remember, I've been able to start really living life! I get car rides, we go get ice cream together, I get to go on walks in the woods! This one time, I almost pulled mom over...so now we walk around the driveway and stop a lot. I'm really getting the hang of it - the treats sure help! When we're not doing that, I get to hang out in the backyard. It's a shame I can't get out off it - I'd really love to go on an adventure by myself! But for now I'll just stay back there - I have to keep the family safe. I make sure I bark at everything that I even THINK may be bad. When I'm done outside and want to go inside, I just jump up on the door an open it myself...sweet, right? I thought so, but not mom! Now she makes me sit at the door and wait...how boring! Anyhow, once I'm inside I usually just hang out with mom or take a nap on the couch. I wish I could sleep with her too, but she says I have to be in my crate at night. I do NOT like going in that thing, but I know the rules...go to sleep, so that's what I do. I don't mind it at all during the day, though! So long as you come home and let me out and give me lots of love, I'll be a happy guy forever! Thanks for reading, friend! A note from Cooper's foster Mama! Meet Cooper! This sweet charmer is nothing but love! He's a bit of an older gent - around 9 or 10 - but you would never know it! He's a super smart guy - probably too smart sometimes - and he's a bit defiant, so he'll definitely need a strong Alpha to lead him. He will also need a home and fence that is secure - his smarts get him out, but not back in - and he is a bolter with no recall. We are currently working on his house and door manners, which he has made significant progress in (he knows how to open doors with lever handles...)! He gets along fine with dogs and cats though he's VERY curious about cats and may scare them initially. His play style can be somewhat aggressive - with cats and dogs - which lands him in a little bit of trouble sometimes. If he's with another animal he would need to be supervised until they have established their boundaries. He's quite the leash puller but is working really hard (and doing well) on his leash training. However, once he's locked on to something, he's on. Obedience training with Mr. Cooper will be essential. Cooper is also a very strong boy, and due to his strength (and his unawareness of it) and inability to recognize "personal space", he would be best in home that does not have small kids. Because of his background, ( he was part of the Indiana 11) Cooper really never learned proper house skills, including potty skills. He's pretty good now, but he does still occasionally mark. He also has a love affair with some pieces of clothing - mostly socks, but sometimes other things like sweaters - that he enjoys shredding, and he's quick as lightning. Mr. Cooper, unfortunately, also seems to have experienced some abuse in his past. He will cower if you raise your hand; however, he responds very well to a stern voice followed by love/positive reinforcement. That's the key to this guy - love, love and more love. And some patience :) If you have those things, he will give you that love back ten-fold. And lots of laughs! Cooper is on a prescription KD diet and one medication per day for his kidneys, which he will require for the rest of his days. He seems to have a slight food or seasonal allergy that causes him to be a little itchy sometimes that cannot be overcome by switching foods. Benadryl really helps to control the itch, so he gets that as needed. He does require a lot of water, which means more potty breaks; though while he's in his crate he's a good boy - no accidents at all. He will require continued vet monitoring of his kidneys for the rest of his life. Overall, Cooper is a GREAT guy! He is so snuggly - I'm pretty sure he would crawl inside of you to get closer if he could. He is a little challenging at times, but that's part of what makes him so special. Even in correcting his behavior, all he needs is love - how sweet is that?! Cooper’s adoption is being handled through National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network. The adoption fee is $200.00. Please go to nbran.org and fill out the adoption application. The Coordinator for Virginia is Leslie Trenta and she will be handling all inquiries and applications for Cooper. Leslie can be reached @ leslie@leslietrentadesigns.com If you are interested in Cooper, please go to nbran.org and complete an online application. The Coordinator in your state will contact you to explain the process. NBRAN will require a home visit and vet check. Cooper can use NBRAN's weekend team of volunteers called the Canine Railroad to get to his new home up to 1200 miles

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). This handsome boy is Calvin. He is approximately 9 years old. With that alert look and sparkle in his eye, would you believe he is blind? Most people that meet him for the first time don't even recognize that he is blind because Calvin's blindness doesn't stop him from enjoying life. Calvin was surrendered by his family after he went blind and they were not prepared to cope with a blind dog. His blindness was most likely the result of SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) a disease in dogs causing sudden blindness. But poor Calvin was also dealt another bad card that his previous owner probably did not address or recognize. He also has a condition called Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) which is the inability to properly digest food due to a lack of digestive enzymes made by the pancreas. He was very thin and basically starving to death when he arrived in Arizona. Now with a special enzyme mixed in his food twice a day, he is thriving and almost getting FAT! This enzyme is ordered from an on-line company and reasonably priced. Calvin is one special boy and deserves someone that recognizes just how special is really is. He is very loving, likes belly rubs and enjoys sitting in "his" chair on the front porch "watching" the neighborhood. If you would like to know more about Calvin or may be interested in adopting him, please contact Robin at britrescueaz@cox.net. Our adoption process includes an application, interview, home visit and vet check. His adoption donation is $200. Any person aged 60 years or over may adopt a senior dog (8 yrs or older) for $100. Calvin's not the dog for you? That's OK, we understand. But you can still help give him a great life. Contributions for Calvin's care can be made via our website www.nbran.org. Please designate that your donation is specifically for AZ-Calvin.
