    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Meet Miss (lucky) Penny. She’s so sweet you can’t help but fall in love with her. Penny doesn’t know she’s 14! Yep, 14! She thinks she’s still a young dog. She loves to play with her foster sister, and looks forward to walks and car rides. Don't let this petite 27 pound girl fool you. She has an adventurous spirit so she will escape if she is not watched carefully. Penny will need the security of a fenced yard to run around in. She is friendly to other dogs and absolutely loves people. Penny has a great appetite and doesn’t notice that she is missing teeth and that the ones there are not that great. A bully stick is Penny’s favorite thing to chew; however, she gets excited about any snack that might come her way. Because Penny is slightly under weight, she will need to remain on a high quality, grain free kibble. She makes sure she never misses a meal. Penny’s hearing isn’t quite what it used to be but she doesn’t miss out on anything. She loves being part of a pack, but doesn’t seem to mind when left on her own as long as her soothing puppy music is playing in the background. She would be fine being an only dog if she gets lots of attention and is part of the family. Penny is healthy (passed a senior blood panel), UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative, (on preventative), spayed, and micro chipped. Her adoption fee will be $200 to offset her vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making Penny a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting www.NBRAN.org, Adoption Center, Adoption Application. Once the application is complete, you will hear from your local area State Coordinator. T his process includes a detailed phone interview, a vet check, and a home visit. Penny is eligible for our wonderful Senior-to-Senior program. If you are a senior, age 60 or over, her adoption fee is $100.

    VT/Toby

    rescue
    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Toby is a male, orange and white 8 year old weighing about 57 pounds, who is microchipped, up to date, Heartworm negative, and neutered. A call to a police station from a Vermont Meals on Wheels volunteer who was concerned about one of her delivery recipients resulted in the police responding with an animal control officer. Toby and his lab mix sister were found along with their bedridden owner. Because of the health of the owner and the conditions the two dogs were living in, animal control took Toby and his sister to the local humane society. Tragically, their owner died the following morning. Toby was transferred to NBRAN’s care. Toby is currently being treated for Lyme disease and is overweight for a Britt. Toby's Vermont foster family states that he is your typical Brittany -- very animated and full of love and energy! Even with his weight issue, he still runs and plays with other dogs. His mission in life is finding food and lying next to you on the couch. He gets along with his fellow foster dogs without any issues and was happy to have the attention of the neighbor's two boys. Toby loves to play fetch and destroy squeaky toys in typical Brittany fashion. He is a counter surfer, but even so, he’s lost 9 pounds since coming into foster care. He is housebroken and barks to alert you to visitors or when he is nervous, e.g. when at the vet. A secure 6’ high fenced yard is a requirement for Toby as he can be an escape artist and is a digger. He would do best in a home with no kids, or older kids only, and someone that is home most of the day. A typical puller, Toby may do best with a harness after he reaches his healthy weight. This senior simply wants your attention and to be loved. He's a real sweetheart with a young happy soul. If you are interested in Toby, please complete an adoption application at http://www.nbran.org/adoptappl.asp. Toby qualifies for our Senior to Senior program, so be sure to inquire if you are eligible. Please feel free to contact Yvonne Mehlenbacher with any questions about Toby at yvonnem@geneseo.edu. We transport up to 1,400 miles.

    OK/Ranger (...

    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Looking for a handsome cuddlebug? A true companion? That’s what my foster dad and mom say I am and I have to agree, I DO love to snuggle. My name is Ranger, I’m a little fella weighing about 32 lbs and was found running with some other dogs on the streets of Wichita Falls, Texas last October. A nice lady took me in and found my owner but he didn’t want me anymore. She kept me and got my shots current but then she had to move into an apartment and there wasn’t room for me anymore so she called NBRAN. I am only 7 years old. My foster family took me to the vet and found out I am a pretty healthy guy but needed my teeth cleaned. I got all fixed up and now looking for my forever home. I’m a calm guy and I will go into a crate at night easily if you want me to, but I’d rather sleep in bed with you! Running and chasing squirrels and birds are super fun and I’d love to help keep your yard safe. When I come back in from doing my business, I like to do a little dance and I actually will smile for you while I do it! I do need a fenced yard and I wouldn’t mind having an older dog as a companion either but would be just as happy if I could have you close by all the time. I ignore kitties for the most part, one of them even head butts me!! One of my favorite things is to cuddle up on the couch with a soft blankie, but I’ll make room for you next to me! I’m good with children as long as they treat me gently and don’t crawl all over me. I take treats like the true gentleman I am, very gently and carefully. My house manners are very good too. I don’t have accidents inside the house and although I DID put my paws up on foster mom and dad’s counter the first week, I haven’t done it since. I sit nicely for my breakfast, supper and treats and will walk easily on a lead. I am looking for a family to adore and spend time cuddling me, could you be my forever family? From Foster Mom: Ranger is a dream dog. He is sweet and calm and for the most part, very polite. He loves to be loved. He pulls his lips back in a smile and dances when he comes back in from the back yard. While we haven’t observed him playing with toys or a ball, he’s a happy boy that truly wants to be close to his people. Ranger is heartworm negative, had a recent dental, is microchipped and all his lab work is perfect. He is perfect in the house and will go into his crate easily but would rather be close to his people and be loved forever. If you are interested in adopting me, please visit www.NBRAN.org to complete an adoption application. Contact Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net and/or Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com . for more information after you have filled out the application. The fee to adopt Ranger in OK is $350 to offset his vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful pets. Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for the last 100 miles.

    NY/Clover

    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Senior
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Clover is a sweet and playful senior lady who walks great on a leash and loves going for her walks. She rides great in the car and is always ready for an adventure. She has some arthritis, but we anticipate that will get better as she loses a little more weight. She came in to rescue 20 pounds overweight and has already lost half of that. Her ideal weight will be about 45 pounds. She is none too thrilled about this forced weight loss and will counter surf and get into the trash if its left within her reach. She is house trained and well behaved except for that food thing. Clover is an assertive gal, but some dogs may consider her "pushy." She has some cataracts and her night vision is compromised. Her near vision is poor and as a result, she may nip at your hand in front of her, as she's thinking (hoping) it's some of her beloved food. Despite this, she still manages to track the squirrels and chase them. She is able to compensate well. Clover needs a loving home where her owners are home most of the time as she likes to potty frequently. She is well behaved if left alone for an hour or so. She is good at night and may need an outing around 3:00 a.m. She rises early ready for her breakfast and the day’s new adventures. She needs someone who will walk her often and who understands her vision issues. A physical fence would be preferred for Clover. If you are interested in Clover, please complete an adoption application at http://www.nbran.org/adoptappl.asp. Clover qualifies for our Senior to Senior program, so be sure to inquire to see if you are eligible. Please feel free to contact Yvonne Mehlenbacher with any questions about Clover at yvonnem@geneseo.edu. We transport up to 1,400 miles.

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). This handsome fella is Chunk Norris...he has a bobbed tail and catches it anyways. Chunk may have been bulking for the first 5 years of his life, getting up to 60 lbs, but Chunk is on a cut cycle now; he's training to catch all of those crazy critters he sees on his walks: birds, squirrels, and maybe even cats. His favorite exercises include fetch, swimming, jogging, and wrestling with his foster brother. Gets along great with other dogs. He is full of love and will follow you anywhere. Chunk Norris' foster dad doesn't think he got much stimulation where he used to live. It seems like he got to eat a lot of human food and didn't get to run and play much. But Chunk is still your typical Brittany, lots of energy, curiosity, and love to give. Inside the house, if there are people home, he follows them around the house to make sure he's not missing out on food, activities, or cuddle time. He also likes to make sure anyone outside isn't getting into anything they shouldn't and will bark to let them know he's watching. If nobody is around, the trash can usually have some pretty cool stuff inside; luckily, Chunk is house-broken and very good about his crate. Outside, still the same Chunk. There are so many cool smells, and some get his allergies going. He is strong on a leash and will need a harness for walks. Chunk Norris is a fast learner and will do well with lots of attention. Any love you give to him, you'll get right back in the form of kisses and cuddles. Chunk would do well with an active family so that he can continue to get his weight down. He loves all the petting he gets from kids and grown-ups alike on his walks through the park. A house with other dogs or kids would likely be a plus, but he probably won't get along with cats. Chunk is healthy, UTD on his vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is located in Austin, TX and looking for his forever home. If you are interested in adopting me, please visit www.NBRAN.org to complete an adoption application. Contact Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net and/or Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com . for more information after you have filled out the application. Transportation can be arranged up 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for the last 100 miles.

    rescue
    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: Curwensville, PA
Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Deuce is not wild unlike in cards. He is a 10 year old liver and white Brittany with a cute face and a chubby build. Deuce has had a pretty hard time in life and now it's time to find him that special family so he can finally feel safe and loved. He has been previously adopted from a shelter and then returned because he does suffer from anxiety which is currently under control with a daily medication. He responds well to reassurance, wants to be a lap dog, hates to be separated by any door, so with this guy a crate is not an option. It is recommended that he go to home as an only dog since he has shown some aggression to other male dogs. So if Deuce could pick out his perfect home, here's what he'd like. Someone who is home most of the time, be an only pet, someone who will work with him to help him FINALLY feel safe and loved, and of course someone who thinks he's the most special loving dog in the world. He is neutered, micro chipped and up to date on all vaccinations. Deuce is currently in foster care in Michigan. His adoption fee is $200.00 if you are 60 years or older, he does qualify for the $100 senior to senior adoption fee. He can be transported up to 1200 miles, with the adopter driving the last 100 miles of his journey. NBRAN does require a home visit and vet check. If you are interested in Deuce, please go to nbran.org and complete an online application. The coordinator in your state will contact you. The Michigan Coordinator handling the adoption for Deuce is Joanne Denomme. Please contact her if you have any additional questions at jojodenomme@gmail.com

    SWEET

    rescue
    Breed: Brittany
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: Jackson, NY
Posted Breed: Brittany (short coat). UPDATE: Sweet has been home for 5 days and is doing very well. She is confined for another week, No strenuous activity or stress of any kind. Hoping that when we go back to the vet on the 17th her meds will be reduced and she can go back to moderate activities. If you are interested in adopting Sweet please keep in mind that she will be on heart meds for the rest of her life. Also her activities will have to be curtailed. This is an UPDATE about SWEET. It has been discovered that Sweet has an enlarged heart, heart murmur, fluid in her chest, and has been at the vet's since thursday, 3/30. She seemed to be improving but there has been another problem. It appears she also has lung damage and cannot be stressed in any way which even includes riding home in the car. She will be staying another couple of days to see if the coughing, which indicates the lung problem, subsides. Just don't know what's going to happen...PAWS CROSSED!!!!! Anyone interested in donating for her vet care go to https://www.gofundme.com/help-cover-sweets-vet-billls. SWEET is a 5 yo, 32 lb, Brittany Spaniel, who absolutely lives up to her name. She was used as a breeding dog probably her whole life. A wonderful rescue took her from the horrible conditions in which she had been living. Due to those conditions she was heart worm positive and had to be treated and then was required to be held in confinement for 6 weeks. She has been wonderful, so patient while waiting to be let free. WELL the time has come...as you can see in the video she is having a great time in the backyard with the rest of the pack. SWEET will do well with another non-dominant dog. She gets along with both male and female. Is crate trained, housebroken, needs a fenced in backyard where she can get lots of exercise. SWEET deserves a happy, well-cared for, loving family to make up for her sad beginnings. There is an adoption process consisting of an application, home visit, contract and adoption fee. Wilma's Orphans is a 501c3 Not for Profit rescue organization. Any and all donations are tax deductible. If you are interested in this dog go to www.wilmasorphans.com for the link to the adoption application.

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). This Very Handsome Liver and White boy is looking for his new forever home! I am a good boy. My name is Thomas, but my Mom calls me Tommy. NBRAN saved me, flea and tick ridden and with some small bite wounds, from a shelter. I am a senior boy (8-10 years old) with age related health issues including some lumps and bumps, arthritis, and hip dysplasia. I also have some chronic breathing issues. I was 10 lbs. overweight when rescued, but now I’m a good weight at about 50 lbs. My health issues have improved with weight loss, exercise, medical care, and good food, but a home without stairs is optimal. They say I am very “soft” because I get scared at loud noises or lots of commotion. I try to leave when I am uncomfortable. I get a little scared in new situations, but I adjust quickly. I am a good boy. They say I’m a very sweet, handsome boy. My tail wags a lot. I like people and other dogs, but NO CATS. I love to chew (my teeth are nubs) and need to have appropriate chew toys or I will find something inappropriate to chew. I love to explore the backyard with my foster sister, dig for “critters,” and chase squirrels. I will need a fenced yard at my new home to keep me safe as I chase little critters! Life is good at my foster home and I am a happy boy, but I would love a “forever” home of my own . I am a good boy. My adoption fee is $200.00 which allows NBRAN to help more of these wonderful pets. If you are interested in taking me into your home, please fill out an adoption application at the following link: https://www.nbran.org/adoptappl.asp . After filing out the adoption application you can contact Gaye Bricker a BeauBritt2@aol.com to discuss your interest in adopting me. NBRAN has team of awesome volunteers that will help in transporting me up to 1400 miles to my new home! How about it... Am I your guy? I'd love to have have a forever home of my own. I am a good boy!

    Breed: Brittany

Posted Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Hello, folks I’m Riley!! I am one handsome orange and white 8 year old. Just look at me, aren’t I a handsome guy? I’ve been in foster care now for a while and I’m ready to move forward with my forever family. I especially hope that my new home will have me as their only dog and can give me all the attention that I deserve. I love treats and take them very gentle. I love to be snuggle and have a blanket on me. I love just to be with you and lay my head in your lap. So, let me tell ya a little bit about myself. First, I’m am housebroken and have very few, if any accidents! (I am able to go for 8 hours, but would like to go out more, if possible.) I love all the praise that I receive when using the restroom properly. Secondly, I’m a curious guy and love to hunt in the house so please close and secure cabinet doors and drawers especially in the kitchen where I’ll find a yummy treat!! Also, I need a fence that is at least 4’ . Hey, can you teach me about stairs? They are weird to me as I’ve not had much experience climbing them and want to learn. Oh, and if you must crate me I’m learning that too. I love being w/ my owner/s and will follow them everywhere. If you work from home, can come home for lunch or are retired I’m your guy!! You would be my perfect forever home. Oh, and I hope you don’t mind as I might sleep in the bed with you too, but my bed is great if you don’t. Foster Mom says I am enormously gentle and sweet with my two-legged Foster Siblings. The vet I see currently thinks my health is decent. So, come on what are you waiting for? Please complete an application and mention Riley! I promise you won’t regret it. Peace and Lots of love, Riley A Note from NBRAN and Foster Mom: Riley has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. EPI. That's his only diagnosis and it has become non-problematic. You take one enzyme tab, crush it, then let it sit in warm water for 15 minutes and then pour it on his food. Then he can eat it about five minutes. No problem. If someone reads about EPI they could get scared off but he has truly settled in and we have a routine and it is causing no problems. (When he took double the amount of enzyme, it was a problem because he was in a desperate panicked search for water then had a few accidents peeing in house. One tab and the thirst is manageable.) The EPI also needs the B12 injections and I believe they're $10-15. Monthly. Pancre Plus Tabs 500 is $80 and last 250 days, which lasts longer than 8 months. He sleeps in a crate nightly - no crying or barking. He is crated while we are not home. Does not pee or poop in crate. Needs a big one though - he does seem to freeze at times when putting in but usually quickly collapses on his many pillows and blankets. If you are interested in adopting me, please visit www.nbran.org to complete an adoption application on me. Contact either Nancy Walker at nwalker@capecod.net or Melinde Waddle at macgammy@gmail.com , for more information after you have filled out the application. The fee to adopt Riley in Kansas is $200 to offset part of his vetting and to allow NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful pets. Transportation can be arranged up to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for the last 100 miles.
