She is about years 7 old and 40 pounds. Angelina is picking up her potty training very well and is quiet in her kennel. She is a shy girl who is adjusting to life in her foster home and coming more and more out of her shell each day. She is learning to trust people and has started to learn to wag her tail and her whole body just wiggles with excitement. She would love to have another dog in her forever home to help show her the ropes of how to be a dog, but if a patient and understanding forever home came around, she would do well as an only dog. She enjoys napping and sun bathing in her spare time - apply today to learn more about this sweet girl! Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Please understand that all of our pets are in foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please email us to confirm attendance. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. You can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://k-9lifesavers.org/how-to-adopt/. Dog's Name: Valentino Estimated Breed: bassett/bulldog mix Approximate Age: 5 years Approximate Weight: Currently 58 lbs Currently Living at: Boarding Foster Valentino until he is adopted! Valentino the wonder boy! This stubby little guy is a feast on the eyes! What he lacks in stature, he makes up for in charisma. Valentino is very friendly, playful, and also a snuggler too. He does pretty well around other dogs but can be protective of his person. He absolutely adores kids. Valentino has separation anxiety so he'd do best in a home where someone was around often, and he'd do best as an only dog. He also had Addisons Disease which requires monthly medication (about $20 a month). Can Valentino the Lover, waddle into your home and heart?? He is a true lap dog at 58lb! Your new pet may require a refresher in house-training but is likely crate-trained. K-9 Lifesavers recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and new owner. The adoption fee for this dog is $300, which includes basic vetting, rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, spay/neuter surgery, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention, monthly flea/tick prevention, and transport costs. If interested in adopting, please download and complete an Adoption Questionnaire and email to us Kate at katesnyder33@yahoo.com FOSTER or ADOPT VALENTINO! Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home. For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/?page_id=64. Sponsor a Dog! Sponsors help us provide additional medical treatment beyond basic vetting, and helps offset boarding costs when our foster homes are full. K-9 Lifesavers treats dogs with heartworm, parvo, upper respiratory infections, and special surgical procedures. Our adoption fees do not fully cover the additional vetting costs for these illnesses, and/or boarding. For more information on our Sponsor Program, visit: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/?page_id=58.
