verified verifiedVery similar to the Carolina Dog, the Canis Africanis is an ancient breed of dog from Africa. They are amazing dogs, intensely loyal, very intelligent, trainable and healthy. Toubab is an Africanis that was brought to the US by his owners, who were working in Africa. He is from Senegal, a former street urchin, and now a very cherished family companion. Unfortunately Toubab is being challenged by his dog housemate, another Africanis adopted from the same area. Toubab needs a new home as an only pet, with people who will cherish him and keep him safe, happy and healthy. He is best suited for adults only - or a family with teens. Toubab is 4, up to date on shots, fixed and very healthy. He will be rehomed with supplies and vet records. Owner willing to drive him to a good home anywhere within 1000 miles of his location. Adopt this incredible dog today.

verifiedPosted Breed: Carolina Dog (short coat). Comet is a talkative little dog who loves to hang out with her favorite people. She also loves to take a walk and then lie down and rest with her friends. She is always happy to see people and lets them hear her excitement. Born in 2010, she came to Best Friends from another rescue organization that was closing its doors. She has shown some guarding behaviors, and, because she bonds deeply with her person, she can sometimes get upset when left alone. Comet would prefer a quieter household with one or two other dogs at most. She generally prefers male dogs to other females. She has lived in a home with multiple cats and was good with them.Tags:

verifiedPosted Breed: Carolina Dog / Basenji (short coat). Please contact Kelly (email@example.com) for more information about this pet. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ PLEASE NOTE: CHARLIE IS IN A FOSTER HOME IN SAN ANTONIO. POTENTIAL ADOPTER MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO SAN ANTONIO TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION PROCESS. Charlie is our handsome diamond in the rough! Witnesses reported that Charlie was thrown from a truck in the parking lot of a Wendy's restaurant near a major interstate in San Antonio. He most likely was a chained dog at one point. One of our volunteers arrived on scene shortly after Charlie was abandoned and took him to safety. Charlie is a 5 month-old Carolina Dog and Basenji blend and currently weighs 30 pounds. We estimate he will weigh approximately 45 - 50 pounds as an adult. The Carolina Dog is a fascinating breed. It is believed the breed may have been descendants from the first primitive dogs that crossed the Bering land bridge from Asia into North America. Charlie is a high energy and athletic pup. He is very playful and affectionate! He is highly intelligent and a quick learner. He loves other dogs and his ideal home would have other friendly and playful dogs. His ideal family would be patient, active, and understand the Carolina Dog personality. He would benefit from puppy obedience classes for leash training and basic commands. He quickly mastered the sit, stay, and down commands. He loves to play fetch and may be a great candidate for disc dog competition! He also loves to run, hike, fetch, and swim! Because Charlie is such an intelligent and curious dog, he will require an experienced owner. Charlie is extremely loyal and owners will appreciate his companionship. However, you must be committed to crate training to encourage proper housebreaking habits as well as curb destructive behavior. Charlie is the type of pup who believes every shoe is a toy, every bit of food left on the counter is a treat, and every pillow in the house needs relocation to his corner. If you have seen the movie "Marley and Me", you will understand this behavior. However, Charlie is the type of dog that is very eager to please and his adolescence behaviors are manageable if you provide structure, strong leadership, affection, and regular physical and mental stimulation. Please understand you are commiting to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more). You must also be committed to housebreaking, age-appropiate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Like most young dogs, he will chew on anything within his reach to include but not limited to baseboards, shoes, socks, children's toys, electrical cords, etc. His housebreaking is progressing nicely. His adoption fee is $150. This includes his neuter surgery, DhPPv vaccination, rabies vaccination, deworming, one month of flea and heartworm preventative, microchip, leash and collar, Petco coupon book, and 30-days of pet health insurance. Please be aware that puppies and small breed do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.texasgreatdane.org. Our adoption events are held each Saturday in north San Antonio. Additional questions may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org. - IMPORTANT INFORMATION - SASPCA Homeward Bound Dog Rescue and San Antonio Great Dane Rescue are 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue groups based in San Antonio, Texas.
