I am a special pup looking for a special home. I am sweet and friendly and working on continued socialization. I am food motivated, so teaching me tricks and commands is a cinch! My foster mom is teaching me boundaries and appropriate reactions to certain circumstances, so I don't feel scared or defensive. I have tried to bite at hands and can be reactive when someone is in my personal space. I am trying to figure it all out. I will need a very strong pack leader and someone who is knowledgeable and confident that they can manage my behaviors so that we can all feel at ease and be safe. I've been responding well to this in my foster home and hope for the same continued help and training in my furever home. I do my business outside and can walk successfully on leash. I still could use some training for when those furry rabbits and squirrels try to tempt me! Silly rabbits! I am also crate trained and will remain quiet while inside. I would do best in a very secure fenced yard for contained play and exercise or always out on a leash due to my high prey drive. I would be a great addition to the right home. I hope it's with you! ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. verifiedPosted Breed: Chihuahua / Brussels Griffon / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $200. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team "Don't worry, be happy" Date into Rescue: 4/3/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Breeder Release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Willie Nelson is heart worm positive. He will be sent home with a year's worth of heart worm prevention. Please discuss the slow kill method for heart worms with your veterinarian. Weight: Estimated 20 lbs Height: Estimated 11-12" at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Not needed, he is always by your side. What kind of home would be best for me? Origin - PLEASE NOTE THIS DESCRIPTION WAS WRITTEN IN APRIL WHEN WILLIE FIRST ARRIVED. MOST OF IT STILL PERTAINS TODAY. WILLIE IS ONE OF TWO DOGS WE STILL HAVE FROM THIS GROUP. The previous owner, a breeder, has health which has become poor and so had the health of her husband. After a back surgery really sidelined her, animal control was called in by her neighbors. While all the legalities were in order this time, she realized that something had to change. Kindly neighbors directed her to CPR and gratefully, she asked us to take over and find homes for her babies. The dogs we received are for the most part, a bit shy and take some time to come around but once they are with you for a while, they become more social. It will take time and introducing them to new sights and sounds but we believe all will become pampered house pets very quickly. We are crate training them now and that is the beginnings of house training. A committed owner can take them the rest of the way. Our best home for these babies is one with another gregarious, happy small dog that will show the new dog how to live in a home. The home will be an experienced dog owner who understands and is willing to give a new dog time to settle in. We have not tested them with children yet and for most, they are so small that homes with children under 7 will not be good fits. If you can offer patience, stability and a confident canine friend to one of these dogs, please consider applying to give them their second, and forever, home.- We do know a few things about Willie Nelson. He is incredibly even tempered, nothing can bother this boy.. he is always in a relaxed mood. Willie nelson catches on very quickly while having a routine. He knows when his crate door opens to go straight outside and potty.. when he is done and ready to come back in he will go straight to his crate. Willie nelson also loves treats and knows how to sit! Tennis balls intrigue him, he chases them but he hasn't figured it out yet. When he first arrived he did not walk well on a leash, with practice and patience he now walks great with a leash. He is an all around lap dog, all he wants is a lap to sit in and a home of his own. If you would like a little reminder through out your day to be happy and stress-free, just give this guy a look and his job is done! How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Estimated birth date 4/4/2012 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR.
