    Mia

    rescue
    Breed: Daug
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dachshund / Pug / Mixed (short coat). We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, Nov. 4th and Sunday, Nov. 5th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Nov. 18th & Sun. Nov. 19th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.) Mia is a 1 1/2 year old Dachshund mix. She weighs 12.8lbs. She was an owner surrender at the shelter. They said they didn't have time for her. Well, we have time for her. Mia is a quieter, shy dog who likes a calmer type of environment. She doesn't do well in the frenetic activity of a busy household with kids and everyone. Rather she is a dog who likes it quiet, mellow, sit on your lap and just hang out. She's a lover girl with her people. You have to earn her love. Give her time to adjust and acclimate. Give her some space. You'll be amazed how quickly she is begging for your love and affection. Mia is definitely a lap dog when she knows you. Mia is not a nuisance barker. She could live in an apartment or condo setting. She could hang out in a quiet office. She is crate trained. She walks well on a leash and she enjoys going on walks but won't require extensive exercise. She has lived with dogs and does well with them. She has lived with big and little ones. She has lived with a cat and does well with them. Mia thrives on boundaries and rules. She is a dog who needs an owner who believes in being a leader within the household. Mia will rule the home if she does not have an experienced home that reinforces structure and boundaries. If you're an experienced home who believes in being the leader rather than giving treats hoping the dog will behave, she's a good option. She'll give back 10 fold what she is given and she'll thrive. Mia is only an option for someone who has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are kids they need to be teenagers or very quiet kids. No small children. **Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend) **If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.

    Breed: Daug
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Dachshund / Pug / Mixed (short coat). We welcome specific questions. Due to high volume of applications, we may not be able to respond immediately. Your patience is appreciated. If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, it is in your best interest to submit an application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application. As an all-volunteer, foster home based organization, ARF does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we must give priority to pre-approved applicants. Meet Piglet! Piglet is a one-and-a-half-year-old dachshund pug mix who is just about the most sweetest thing. Piglet came from a hoarding situation and when ARF heard, they came to the rescue. Now piglet is on the road to living the life he deserves. Piglet is very sweet and gets along fine with other dogs, cats, and children. He's getting used to what it means to be on a leash but with time and learning this should not be an issue. Piglet is very affectionate and silly. He likes to cuddle and has the most adorable underbite! He is still working on potty training due to the hoarding situation that he came from. Patience and time should help with this. Are you the one to give Piglet his second shot at a great life? Piglet is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and will be neutered. His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Piglet's adoption fee is $275. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Piglet fill out an online application today! http://arf-il.org/application.html Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. If you’re invited to meet an animal, plan to arrive on time or early, as we cannot hold animals. All household members must be present at time of adoption, including dogs. We appreciate your cooperation. Upcoming Adoption Events
