    Moses

    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog. About Moses Moses is a stunning boy around 6. He has one of saddest stories we have heard - he was tied to a short six foot chain all his life prior to us rescuing him. He had never even been inside. In spite of that, he has a fabulous disposition. He is sweet and gentle and very loving. He does fine with other dogs (big and small) and with the cat. He has never had an accident in the house so he is even potty trained even though he had never been in. We just adore this boy and only want warm cozy beds for him from here on out and a family who loves him like we do. Being an inside dog is one requirement for adoption. He is located in Augusta. Please respond for an application! More About Moses House trained • Spayed/Neutered • Current on vaccinations German Shepherd Dog • Adult • Male • Large

    Sherlock

    Breed: Old English Sheepdog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Old English Sheepdog / Poodle (Standard) (long coat). Adoption Fee: $329. Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Meet Sherlock! Breed: Shep a doodle - old english sheepdog and standard poodle mix Gender: male Date into Rescue: 7/31/14 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release, can't handle Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? YES -Behavior Fence needed? Yes Weight: Est 50 lbs Height: Est 25 " Adoption fee: $329 Age: birthdater 10/6/2009 (Please understand that these are rescued dogs, and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We go with what we are told) What is my personality like? Sherlock's sad past history of shock-collar training (since he was a year old until he came to us, Sherlock wore an electric shock training collar at all times) makes me cry every time I think of it. This is abuse plain and simple - to be continually shocked for the slightest transgression would drive me crazy too. Sherlock developed some bad, and quite frankly, sad, habits. After being assessed by a trainer, we believe it will take a very long time - possibly years to undo the damage that has been done to this guy. He is very strong on a leash but will walk alongside you, especially when he is wearing a harness. Sherlock is a bright dog with many skills. Cues he knows include : sit, wait (stay), up (stand up from laying down), down (to lay down), leave-it (walk away from whatever it is he's smelling, eating, doing etc.), kennel (go to his kennel), heel, here (his recall/come). There are a few other commands that he knew like "place" and "look sharp" but the previous owner did not reinforce these commands. Sherlock does have some issues with resource guarding , especially inside of his crate over his food bowl. This is most evident when other dogs approach him. Our caregiver can now put his bowl in his crate with no issues. This is a huge improvement from when he first came here. Also, according to what his previous owner witnessed with him, he does not like to be approached while he is lying down. He will growl, show teeth and or bite. We have not seen this at the farm, however farm-life and home-life are two different things, and he may resort to this behavior again once he is back in a home. Also according to his behavior with his previous owner, he could not be bathed or groomed without a muzzle. At first, we were able to do both without a muzzle here, but again he is out of his comfort zone, and sometimes dog's do not show their "true nature" until they are comfortable. A few months into his stay with CPR, he did get wild during grooming and we chose to get him shaved down under sedation but we're going to try again. We have had two bite incidents at the farm with Sherlock. In both cases, Sherlock warned the caregiver repeatedly and the warning one time was ignored and the second time, Sherlock had a rag wrapped around his foot and it was cutting off circulation. Our caregiver was a new one and did not know he had time to call for help so he tried to remove the rag himself. It was painful and Sherlock snapped at him In both cases, the bite broke skin but did not require stitches or a doctor's visit. On a positive note, Sherlock is a happy, affectionate dog. There is much more to him than some bad habits, he loves attention and he loves to be petted. Sherlock is house and crate trained, and is VERY well mannered indoors. He really is a sweet dog who could make someone a wonderful companion, if you are are strong dog leader who understands this dog must always be closely monitored and whose energy must be drawn to positive activities. He loves to run and would make a great jogging or hiking companion. Update: Sherlock is absolutely brilliant. I believe Sherlock would do wonderful with a dog trainer or someone who has a adequate amount of experience with temperamental dogs. Sherlock truly wants to be loved and have a owner, but his past makes it hard for him to put his trust in anyone. With a little bit of work, patience, and time he could be a amazing dog to have. He is extremely dog selective, does not like most dogs! He needs to go to a home where he will be the only dog. Who I am seeking: Because of his behavior, we understand Sherlock may be with for the rest of his life so he is available for virtual adoption and is seeking sponsors to help us afford to care for him. If you hate shocking dogs as much as I do, then consider Sherlock as your virtually adoptable favorite guy. Thinking you can handle him? We have requirements for Sherlock. He must be adopted by someone who is a very experienced dog-owner. Preferably someone who has experience with the breed and with the behaviors that we are describing. He must be an only dog - other animals overwhelm him and spark some of these bad habits of his. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture, and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them! Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. Date into Rescue: 12/27/15 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No Weight: est 40 lbs Height: growing Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Preferred, she needs good exercise daily. What kind of home would be best for me? Deanna is a happy, goofy big puppy! She is friendly and loves everyone. She would do great in many different environments. Although we have not seen her around kids, we feel she would be a great addition to a family with kids; she keeps us on our toes! She is very loving and affectionate, and pretty calm for a puppy. She and her brother are best friends and we think she would do great with another dog in the home. Deanna recently spent one-on-one time with a caregiver and he shared: "Deanna needs a lot of work on a leash. She will chew on them. She loved playing outside. While inside she was mostly focused on playing with the crated dogs. She is a serious love bug and will have no problem becoming connected to an adopter." UPDATE: 10/11/2016 We cant help but wonder why Miss Deanna is still here! This girl has made huge improvement since she has came in. She no longer pulls on the leash unless something catches her attention. She can sit on command is highly treat motivated so teaching her commands would be easy with time. Deanna is dog selective.. she only likes certain dogs and she must be the leader with her doggy friends. When she is with other dogs, she is a completely different dog and becomes a robust, playful dog. Alone, she just wants to sniff everywhere while being by your side. Deanna is extremely loyal and can be your constant best friend if you let her. How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Date into Rescue: 12/27/17 Reason for being in rescue: Found as a stray with Deanna Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Demodex mange was found on a skin scrape. We are currently treating him and do not think this will be a life-long issue. Brett was treated for Demodex mange and now has 0 issues with his skin. Weight: 45 lbs Height: Growing Adoption Fee: $149 Fence needed? Yes. He is active. What kind of home would be best for me? 6/23/2017"I'm Brett, I was found a stray with my bud Deanna by one of the caregivers here at CPR. I have been here for a little over a year now,, I am getting pretty lonely and really want to find some family of my own. When I first got here I was still a puppy, and I think that is what scared some people away. But since I have grown wiser and older I have calmed down a great deal! I love love love affection, sometimes I think I'm a little lap dog. Although I am still active, and love to explore.. I still like cuddling up next to someone I care about and having their attention at the end of the day. You wanna what kind of tricks I can do? I can sit, stand back up, catch a treat in my mouth and I will even let the treat roll down my nose. Give me a chance!" 2016- Brett is a sweet and loving guy. He is a big goofy puppy who loves attention and likes to show affection. He is playful and friendly although we found out recently he's afraid of cats so a cat free home is now part of Brett's wish list. He is as sweet and easy as they come! Brett has the hound type personality down pat. He loves to romp and run in the field until he wears himself out. Brett would be great for an adventurous- outdoorsy type of person. He is friendly as he can be but would do well with someone that has experience training dogs or someone that is willing to further training in a obedience class. Brett recently spent one-on-one time with a caregiver and he shared, "Brett's leash training needs work but he did well. He was active and enjoyed being outside more than in. He's a love bug and attaches to you quickly." How I act when I first meet new people: Friendly! House trained? Posted Breed: Great Pyrenees (long coat). PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE TO LEARN ABOUT OUR ADOPTION POLICY, FEES AND MORE ON McCRAW - www.k95rescue.org Please note that McCraw is a Special Needs dog McCraw is a sensitive fella that came from a terrible background full of neglect. Once on a chain, and then left in a fenced area that was overgrown with shrubbery, weeds and grass far taller than he, he didn't think anyone could be nice to him. Over time he has learned not to be as afraid of people, form friendships with other animals, play, and he's earned a beautiful coat vs. the matted shell of a coat he had prior to coming into rescue. He even does well at events. McCraw is a special needs boy, however. Because of his fears, he will need someone experienced to work with him during a transition into a new home. He also has some issues with food protection and which will also need someone experienced. For this reason, while he's done well with kids at events, we prefer not to place him in a home with children. If there are other dogs, any large dogs need to be female. He requires a FENCED yard due to the Great Pyrenees tendency to roam. McCraw would love someone who will dote on him, take him places, and make him the king of the castle. Let us know if that's you!
