    Lady

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Los Angeles, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Lady and her husband Grizzly were living in a kennel 24/7 for at least five years! They were never let out for exercise or human contact. The property they lived on was used for shooting commercials and the owner lives in LA. Someone came to feed them once a day, but the poop was rarely picked up and when a friend of Paw Parent worked there on a commercial and saw the conditions with poop piling up and metal bowls chewed up out of boredom, she knew she had to do something to free them. She contacted Paw Parent and it was arranged for Lady and Grizzly to come and live here at Paw Parent. Lady is very much on the shy and timid side and is not happy when walked on a leash but has greatly improved. She is very bonded to Grizzly and needs him close by at all times. It would be fantastic if they could find a home together. She likes being petted once she knows you and enjoys being brushed. Lady is around 7 years old, spayed, updated on all her shots and has a microchip. She weighs about 55 pounds but could use a few extra ones.

    Wes

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Los Angeles, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Wes had a hard start in life and as a puppy was bounced around between several homes after his Guardian was killed in a car accident. Wes was lucky enough to have found a loving couple to adopt him who also had another dog to play with and share his home. Wes welcomed a baby into the home recently, but isn't so sure about this new little being and his Guardians have decided to give him a tranquil environment. Wes is 4 1/2 years old and weighs 55lbs. Wes loves to cuddle on the couch and have his belly rubbed or will gladly lay at your feet. He's not high energy, but will perk up in a heartbeat for a round of fetch and enjoys going for walks and short hikes. He gets along wonderfully with his brother Chester (a husky mix) and does well at doggy daycare with the other pups. Wes responds to "come", "sit", "stay", "shake" and "lay down". He has a sweet and happy demeanor and really just wants some TLC. Wes will do best in a calm, adult home preferably with another dog. Breed experience preferred. The adoptions process is as follows: The application can be found on our website www.pitstoprescue.com Please complete and submit the application so we can determine if it is a good match for all. A Sniff and Whiff will be arranged. Please include a brief description of your home situation and what characteristics you would like in a dog companion. The adoption fee is $350 and covers: All vaccines, micro-chip, deworming, spay/neuter & rabies. ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Application, Contract, Home-Check and Tax-deductible adoption fee/donation of $350. All animals are healthy, altered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on all shots. Southern California residents only.

    Cricket

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: Los Angeles, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Rottweiler (short coat). DOB: 2/4/10 Cricket was rescued when she was just one day old from the Orange County shelter. She was dropped there with her three surviving siblings; her mom, a Rottweiler, rejected the litter and the owner wouldn't take care of them. Fortunately she was rescued quickly and bottle raised, and has been around dogs, cats and people her entire life! Cricket is an EXTREMELY EXUBERANT girl. I wrote that in all caps because I can't overstate how high energy she is. This is a dog that wants to go for walks, runs, hikes and whatever else you can do to keep her moving. She is super playful and loves all sorts of toys, balls and the usual dog things. She's currently living in a home with four other dogs and is always trying to play with them. And if the dogs aren't responding, she'll try to play with the resident cats. Which, from the cats' perspective, is not always welcome - but she certainly means no harm. Cricket does occasionally enjoy some down time, and that's when she gets very cuddly and kissy, with people, cats or dogs. She's crate trained and perfectly housebroken. Sure, she does occasional dumb dog things, but that goes with the territory. Cricket is not a dog that should be left to her own devices. Perhaps when she's older and more stable that would be possible, but with her age and exuberance she needs to have strict boundaries set and kept for her. She definitely responds very well to training, but as experienced dog people know, training is a continuing endeavor, and Cricket certainly needs to be in a home where this is an ongoing thing. One very endearing thing about Cricket is her ears. The bases are firm but the tips are very floppy. Sometimes they are both flopped forward, sometimes back, and sometimes one goes each way. Everyone who meets her sees those ears and giggles, and they really are something to behold. It's like they have personalities of their own. If you are interested in meeting this sweet girl, please click here to email her foster dad. If you are unable to send an email to the foster parent through the link included above, please contact us and let us know what kitty you're interested in. You may also fill out our adoption questionnaire to speed up the screening process. Be sure to name the cat in the CAT PREFERENCE field at the beginning of the questionnaire. If the above links aren't live, our contact form and questionnaire are available on our website at www.kittenrescue.org. For our fees and adoption policies and procedures, please click here.
