    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Please contact Adoption (coastalgsrsd@gmail.com) for more information about this pet. Miller is a very friendly guy, he loves people, loves to cuddle, and needs a family who can spend lots of fun time with him. He is very eager to please and learns commands quickly. He liked his previous family’s cat and engaged her to play but knows when to submit if she got irritated with him. He was neutered when found and he has put on some weight since then; he was starving when found. He pulls on the leash but it’s energy and excitement, not aggression. He’s been learning better manners and he’s house-trained. His favorite game is fetch and he loves tug ropes. He will play in the sprinklers and try to eat them if you’ll let him. He is always ready to play and will bring you his toys to show you he wants your time! Rawhide makes him sick but he loves to chew on his Nylabone or any other bones you provide. He’ll bring toys and bones to show you and then will relax nearby to chew them and hang out. Need a fun-loving boy like Miller? Please visit http://www.coastalgsrsd.org/to learn more about our dogs. Cassie

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Cassie is around 13 months. She came into the rescue afraid of everything. Her foster has been working with her to build trust, and Cassie has finally learned that she can trust the one she’s with. We don’t know what happened to her in her months before coming to rescue, but we know that she has a distrust of people in general, but especially men. For Cassie, having a canine companion who is a social butterfly would be the best thing, one that she can watch and learn from. After all, there are some things that no matter how much we try to teach, we cannot show her like another dog can show her. It doesn’t matter whether her canine companion is male or female. She doesn’t discriminate. Big or small, that’s okay too, although she does prefer someone who is large enough for her to play like a little German Shepherd plays, kinda rough sometimes. She would love a small pack of her own. A cat in the mix, okay too, as long as the cat is not too rough with her. Children, please no children. Cassie needs a quiet home with very low traffic while she continues her journey in socialization and trust. The natural chaos that children bring can be very scary for a dog like Cassie, especially when there are lots of play dates with strange children that she doesn’t know. At 13 months, she is still technically a puppy, so expect to lose a shoe or two if you don’t keep a watchful eye. Please visit www.coastalgsrsd.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Shilah

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: German Shepherd Dog
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: San Diego, CA
Posted Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Shilah is a sweet, shy female who lost her home through no fault of her own, but rather due to medical issues in her family. This lovely girl is what we often call a “Velcro” dog – she loves her humans so much she just wants to be where they are. She is completely happy when sleeping at the feet of her owner, and even happier if she can sleep on their lap. She does great with all manner of folks – men, women, kids, strangers. In fact, Shilah lived in a home that provided daycare for young children (4 yrs-plus). Shilah would do best as an only dog. She gets nervous around very loud noises, so she needs someone who will be patient enough to work with her on conquering fears. She is house trained and has learned to use a doggie door. However, she doesn’t like to stay in a crate for very long. Her foster mom is working on that. Shilah has a strong prey drive, so cats and birds are unlikely to be a good choice for “siblings.” She walks nicely on a leash and has become a bicycling companion to her foster mom! She knows a few basic commands, such as “sit” and “paw.” Shilah’s foster mom says, “One of Shilah’s best features is when she puts her head on my lap and looks up at me with her loving eyes.” Are you ready to look into those same eyes? Please say “yes!” Please visit www.coastalgsrsd.org/ to learn more about our dogs. Click on available dogs to see further descriptions.
