    Addie

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Affectionate, Playful, Loyal If you are viewing this dog on a website other than www.bfpa.org please go directly to our website for more information on adoption requirements and specifics for this dog. Websites such as Petfinder and Adopt-A-Pet may not show all the information that we have listed. FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Addie is a sweet and playful girl who is still very puppy-like. She has discovered the joy of toys and loves nothing more than to play fetch with her humans or run around and toss a squeaky toy in the air! Watch her video! Addie adores attention and is very affectionate. She gets a little nervous when meeting new people, especially men, and needs to take introductions slow so she can build trust. Once she warms up, she bonds very quickly. Addie would do best in a quiet home setting without too much hustle and bustle. When she isn't entertaining herself with her toys, she loves to lay around and be a couch potato. Addie has been attending training classes to work on her socialization skills and has already mastered sit, down, touch, wait, spin and twirl. She is currently working on her leash manners and recall skills as well as learning how to properly socialize and meet new dogs and people. It is evident that Addie did not have much practice with this in her previous life, but she is really coming out of her shell. Addie will do best to acclimate to her new home with continued training, so we would like for her forever family to be willing to take her to training classes to help her fine tune her skills. She has been working with a local trainer using only positive reinforcement methods and has been doing very well. Addie's foster parents believe so strongly in the benefits of this training that they would like to donate a gift certificate for a 10 week training class to Addie's future forever family. This is one special girl who is waiting patiently for an equally special family to make her their own! EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Addie wound up at the Duplin County Shelter and found herself on the urgent list. When BFPA was alerted to her situation, we were happy to bring this sweet girl into our program and help her on her journey to find her forever family! Addie has been through a lot, and was quite terrified when she first came to BFPA. It was evident that her past life was lacking and that she was likely very isolated. Since coming to BFPA, she has undergone heartworm treatment and is now thriving in her foster home learning about all the luxuries of indoor living! Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. We do home visits to finalize adoptions and/or deliver the adopted dog. Therefore, we prefer potential adopters live a reasonable distance to the Triangle area (Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ADDIE? Dillinger

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Adult
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed (short coat). *SANCTUARY VISIT REQUIRED* Dillinger (aka Dilly Pickle) was abandoned on a property where he had no human interaction, and he became very wary of people. Since coming to the Sanctuary, Dilly has made quite a bit of progress. He will now walk on a leash and has learned to enjoy car rides. Though he doesn't show it, he also likes to be petted. Born in 2011, Dillinger gets along well with other dogs, and relies on them for confidence, so he's looking for a home with a doggy friend or two who can show him the ropes. He also requires a secure enclosure and close supervision so that he does not flee out of fear. Dillinger is looking for a patient, understanding person willing to give him a chance. If that person is you, Dillinger would love to meet you.

Paws New England is a rescue, not a shelter, and as such we do not have our dogs housed in one location - they are in foster homes both in New England and in our southern foster homes. If you're interested in a specific dog, please complete a short online application and you will receive a reply within 48 hours so you can ask questions. At present, if a dog is listed on our website, the dog is considered still available HOWEVER, may have applications that have come in before yours but it's still too early to know if any are a good match; therefore we encourage you to apply. NOTICE WITH REGARD TO LOCATION OF DOGS: Please note: Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. We do not have a brick and mortar building to house the dogs we rescue. We have found that dogs in foster homes are much more adoptable because they have been observed in a home setting. Dogs listed with Paws New England typically reside in various locations throughout the south (primarily Tennessee, Texas, and Arkansas) and New England (not necessarily in the state of Rhode Island). You will be notified by the adoption coordinator of the location of the dog you are interested in so you have the ability to decide whether to pursue adoption or not. Dogs transported to New England are done so at a fee of $150.00 paid directly to the transporting company by Paws New England; no additional transport costs are responsibility of adopter. This fee is included in the adoption donation. Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary. Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your dog will help others in need. All known information about the animal is listed above. We do our best to give accurate information, but most of our dogs are rescues and do not come with a known history. Paws New England abides by the dog importation regulations set forth in the states of MA, CT, NH and RI.

She is looking for a forever family that understands the time commitment, and the energy and patience needed to raise a puppy like her. Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed (short coat). Meet Anna! Anna is a Lab/Pointer mix who is approximately 1-year old and weighs around 50lbs. Anna is a smart and sensitive girl with a beautiful white coat with liver colored markings. She can be timid at first but is eager to learn and very treat motivated. Anna loves other dogs and would most likely do best in a home with another dog for companionship. Anna also loves human companionship! Anna was previously adopted into a home but the family recently returned her due to someone in the home developing allergies. Poor Anna, it wasn't her fault and now she's wondering why she's back at Eleventh Hour. Anna and her sisters were part of a hoarding situation that removed 21 dogs from a very bad situation. She has come a long way since that time! She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. All she needs now is you! If you are interested in meeting Ana, go to EHRDOGS.ORG and submit an application. Don't forget to ask for Anna Lizman.

    Pongo

    rescue
    Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed. Meet Pongo! This beautiful 1 year old is a Lab/Pointer mix and he is a love! Pongo is a young, friendly, and lovable goofball who enjoys meeting new people. He's a ball of fun and energy. He's amazing in the crate and is house trained. He's alright with other dogs but might do best as an only dog, as he picks and chooses who are his friends. He loves to cuddle and loves attention. He is also working on his mouthiness, so for now, we recommend his forever family have no small children until he fully learns his manners. He is smart and learns very quickly. This love bug is ready for a forever home. When Pongo was cat tested at an adoption event with a non-reactive cat he was very interested and excited, so we are unsure how he would do sharing a home with cats. If you think you can give Pongo the life and love he deserves, your first step is to fill out an adoption application on our website. The adoption includes the altering of the dog, current vaccinations, and microchipping. For more information on the adoption donation and our adoption process, please visit our website at www.labsandmore.org and click on "Adopt." MACKENZIE

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Lab-Pointer
    Sex: Female Female
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). AVAILABLE FOR A LOVING FAMILY! Mackenzie is a cross bread slim hunting, loyal hound mix. She has lots of energy and will fetch a ball as long as your arm holds out to throw it. We have fostered her for over a year and she is ready for the right family. Good with children and other dogs, but somewhat shy. Great on a leash. But, build trust with her before you let her off the leash. Due to a lack of human interaction at an early age she has some instinctive reservations about new situations / people. When she gets accustomed to the new person or environment she will lose her reservations and want to have fun. This will take love and trust building by the forever family. She needs a yard and also another dog in the house. The dog can be old or young, she is just more settled and relaxed with canine companionship. A bed / sleeping location is a must as she feels comfortable knowing what space is hers to sleep. This can be a crate, but she doesn't need one. She is a none destructive dog. In the beginning she will need routine, consistency, play and love in that order. So set the boundaries in the beginning and she will follow them and respect you for that. All in all she is a perfect family dog that will need some work in the beginning to build trust. But once that is done she will be as loyal as the day is long. Mac weighs 50 lbs, is 18 months old, house and crate trained. Her adoption fee is $175.00 and includes her spay, microchip and current vaccinations. For an adoption application, visit http://spotsavespets.org/adoption-application-dogs/ or email SPOT at info@spotsavespets.org to meet Mac! To follow Mackenzie on her way to a loving family on SPOT's Facebook page, visit https://facebook.com/spotsavespets/
