    Breed: Shih Apso

Posted Breed: Lhasa Apso / Shih Tzu / Mixed (medium coat). This is Kringle! He is a Shih Tzu mix, really thinking Lhasa Mix. He arrived matted and very neglected and we could not save one of his eyes which was bulging and probably very painful but he's feeling much better now and it's healed nicely, he's had hair cut and is eating regularly and learning to be a real dog - he loves treats and is quite the character. He is quirky and temperamental wth people and other dogs, like an old grumpy man in a cute little doggies's body. We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt // // Daisie is an adorable 8 year old Lhasa Apso / Shih Tzu mix, born in approx. January of 2009, weighing 12 pounds. Daisie is primarily cream colored, and will need regular grooming to keep her looking spiffy. This little girl is blind in both eyes but has no problems quickly learning her way around. She's completely potty trained. Daisie enjoys snuggling on the couch with her foster mom and playing with her toys. She is fantastic in the company of others, enjoys sunbathing and is real easy going girl. Upon a recent wellness check Daisie is now diagnosed with early kidney disease, she is currently doing well on the special diet. She would do best in a family with a quieter, more sedate environment, no young children and would be happy to accompany her human on daily walks. She is spayed, microchipped and current on vaccines. Her adoption fee $100 which helps Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. ♥ All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog. We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information. All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog. Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home. Thank you for visiting our dogs located at www.SecondChanceDogRescue.org

    Brody Bene-C...

    verified

    rescue
    Breed: Shih Apso
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Young
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso / Mixed (long coat). Thank You Bene-Care! Bene-Care wants to say thank you to Joyful Rescues and each and every person that volunteers their time to this amazing cause! The time and energy that Joyful Rescues commits to helping rescue animals and put them into good homes is something that Bene-Care firmly believes in! When deciding which organizations to support, Joyful Rescues rose to the top of list not only because of the cause, but we have staff that has ties either through adopting a Joyful Rescue animal or through volunteering. Each and every one of these animals deserves a loving home, and we are happy to be able to contribute to that. Bene-Care supports you! Brody was born about March 2, 2016 and weighs about 17 lbs. He ended up at the shelter a matted, overgrown, mess of hair and had to be shaved down. Upon doing so they could actually see his eyes and found out it was not only the mats of fur over the eyes causing him not to be able to see, but he has a congenital condition called microophthalmia (shrunken eye balls) and he is blind. It is what it is and cosmetically it won't hurt for a little soft fur to cover the eye sockets. It is what it is and he has always been this way so he is used to it and blind dogs do very well in life, much better than us humans. He is sweet and we love him even more because of this condition. We just know that there is someone else out there willing to give him a home where he can learn where everything is and be forever loved just the way he is. We are going to say no children only because of all the commotion and toys and things always in different places. Brody is nicely house trained. This is all we know as we will be learning as we go and so will you. The staff at the southern kill shelter doesn't ask any questions when a pet is being surrendered because it is most often financial and an embarrassment to the humans. Update from his foster mom: Brody is an amazing little dog. Although he's blind, he navigates pretty well. He's friendly and does well with everyone he meets. He was evaluated by an animal behavior specialist and she said he's a great little dog, but is timid. This can lead to him reacting to other dogs if he is feeling trapped, so a dog savvy home or an only dog home is best. He is learning left/right, step up, step down, sit and stay. He responds well with verbal praise and petting (not treats) and is doing well! At night he sleeps in a crate next to my bed and after I say, "Night, night!", I don't hear a peep from him until I get up. In the morning, he greats me with a wagging tail. He's not totally housebroken, but we're working on that. I don't think it will be long! The Adoption Fee for this dog is $175.00. Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY. Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption. Can't Adopt Me? Breed: Shih Apso
    Sex: Male Male
    Age: Senior
    Location: USA
Posted Breed: Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso / Mixed. LOOKING FOR MY ANGEL: 8 years old / 18 lbs. Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm. Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. Before coming to Mostly Mutts I lived a very neglectful life. I’m happy that I was rescued and am getting great care now! I’m deaf due to the neglect, but I’m used to it & am comfortable with my loss of hearing. I had surgery to remove my left ear canal as it was very damaged. I love to follow my people around throughout the day, so I’m looking for a family with a stay at home member who wants a nice companion. I’m not a dog to be carried or a big lap dog, but if you have a blanket in your lap on the couch, I just may curl up in it. I’m content to camp out at your feet on a nice blanket or just be close to you on the floor. I shouldn’t live in an apartment/condo type home though as I bark when I’m left or don’t know where you are in the home. I’m very good with all the different dogs & kitty cats I’ve met (there have been many) and I live with 2 dogs and a cat in my foster home now. I’m a laid back guy who also likes to play a little bit with other dogs which is quite cute, and my favorite thing is when my foster family rubs my ears as it feels so good! I’m very good on a leash with no pulling & I enjoy going for short walks with my people or just out to potty and back, whatever you like. My eyes are a bit dry too, so I get daily, very inexpensive eye drops. I don’t love them, but my foster mom can show you what works best for putting them in. I had my teeth cleaned, and lots were pulled so my mouth is feeling great too. I have some ongoing allergies and eat Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein food and that really helps. I don’t eat a lot either since I’m a smaller dog, so it’s not expensive to feed me. My potty manners are good on a very regular schedule too, although not perfect. I’m not crated in my foster home, but I do well in the kitchen while my people are away although I may sing a song or two. I sleep well in a doggie bed next to my people’s bed at night. I have a little temperamental side and may protest if I’m tired and it’s time to go outside or up to bed by trying to snap, but just put a leash on me and I’ll comply. Teens and older please since I have that temperamental side at times. I’m looking for a wonderful patient family that won’t mind my little quirks. Energy level: 3–5. I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered & my adoption fee is $100.00.
