s., and have beautiful big brown eyes and a soft as silk brown coat. I live in a foster home with my foster mom & dad, 2 teens and 2 dogs (1 big, 1 small). I am working so hard on all my skills to be the best pup for my future family. I am housebroken and use a potty bell to tell my people when I need to go outside. I listen well and know the commands “Sit”, “Paw”, “No”, and “Leave It”. I am working on “Off” and “Down”. I just get so excited when I see my people or meet new people that I can’t help but jump up and say hello with my happy puppy kisses. My future family will definitely need to love puppy kisses. When my people need to go out, sometimes I’m lucky and get to ride along (I love that!), but when I can’t - I stay in my crate. I go in willingly with a few treats, but it does take me a few minutes to settle down once the door is closed. At night I’ve been so good that I now sleep in a dog bed in the bedroom. I love to go on walks and will sit quietly when my people stop or hang out at the coffee shop. I’m still working on the “not chasing squirrels” and “not picking up sticks” part. Occasionally I will bark when I’m scared or unsure -- that’s when I need my people most for clear direction, reassurance and guidance. This happens in some new situations and when meeting some new dogs. Here are my top 10 favorite things: 1. Hanging out with my people 2. Treats, treats and more treats 3. Car rides 4. Going for a walk 5. Playing with my foster doggy siblings (mostly the little one) 6. Carrying my toys around and trying to sneak them outside 7. Sleeping on my back (yep, legs in the air) or sleeping on your feet 8. Playing tug or chase 9. Lying in the grass chewing on a stick 10. Giving Kisses! From Foster Mom: “Amaretto is one of the most loving pups we’ve fostered. It’s hard to believe that he hasn’t found that perfect family yet. He is so eager to please, fun loving, goofy and is always making us laugh. He loves to give hugs and kisses and he deserves a loving family who will give him the time he needs to get to know and trust them and let his personality shine through.” Adoption Fee: $475.00 We are a Wisconsin state licensed dog rescue -WI# 402433 ***We do not have a central adoption center at this time. All our dogs are in private foster homes within WI. At this time we only place our dogs in areas of WI. The breed of our dogs is our best guess with the help of our veterinarians. Our Weight Classes are as follows: 0- 25lbs - Small 26- 45lbs - Medium 46-89 - Large 90+ X-large If you are adopting an adult dog, which we consider 6 months of age or older, your adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter, Rabies and Distemper shots, dewormed, flea & tick preventative, heartworm tested and microchipped. If you are adopting a dog younger than 6 months of age, the dog will be up to date on the shots as per the dogs age. The dog will be dewormed, flea/tick preventative and microchipped. We only spay/neuter our dogs by 6 months of age. If you decide to adopt a younger dog than 6 months of age, they will need to be spayed/neutered at one of our preferred clinics. This will be determined by your contract along with the month they should have their surgery. This is included in your adoption fee. Once you are approved with our rescue, you can meet any one of our dogs within the fosters home. If you are interested in the dog you met, you can take the dog home under our mandatory foster to adopt program. You receive 5 days to see if the dog is the right fit for your home. If it is, we will conduct the home visit and finalize adoption. If it is not, it is returned to the foster. We are happy to find you another dog that meets your needs in your home. If a dog is listed as PENDING, a family has met the dog and planning on adopting the dog after the home visit has been conducted. We always suggest sending in an application for a dog because there are times where the dogs are given back to us under the foster to adopt program. There are many reasons dogs are returned but normally it just was not the right fit for all. Please go to WWW.TAILWAGGERS911.COM under HOW TO ADOPT . We have an online application that is very easy to fill out.

  1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
