rley is a stunning cane corso girl with a deep blue coat that is as true to the word as it can be. She has natural ears and a cropped tail. She is a big girl an still growing. She is a stout girl who just is amazing as can be. She has come along way in a short amount of time, and we know that she will be an amazing pet for the right family. She just needs a home that is able to work with a dog who is a bit fearful, and needs an owner who is confident and able to work on her on some training that she needs. She is a great dog and we know she will find an amazing home. Lavern and Shirley came in to rescue together. THEY WILL NOT BE GOING TOGETHER, THEY DO MUCH BETTER APART. They were brought into a shelter by their family. They had lived with 2 boxers and the two sisters. They had no training, and together were deemed to be reactive. They were terrified and sure that everyone was out to get them. Mastiffs do not do well in shelters to start with. Once the girls were separated they did better by leaps and bounds. They just needed to learn to think for themselves and not mob mentality. Lavern is the sweeter softer girl and was likely being bullied by her sister. The shelter was concerned that they were not able to work with them like needed so they asked for help. We are glad they did as they are amazing and we adore them. Shirley is a doll. We adore her and she really wiggles her way into your heart. She loves to play and wants nothing more then to be told she is a good girl. She is a bit more aloof then her sister and needs a home that will give her a chance to adapt to a new home before crowding her. She loves to play and loves to have a good time. She loves to play fetch, not as much as her sister but still loves it. She really just wants to be loved and told she is a great girl. She thrives to please. She will turn herself inside out. She is amazing and we really adore her. She is quickly becoming a favorite and it is worth the time spent with her, to get the wonderful devotion she gives in return. She has been good with other dogs her size, but does need a slow introduction and does best with males, but does ok with females as well. She does good with large animals but likely would chase poultry. She also has been around cats but would need some time to live in a home with them as she would like to chase them. With time it could be worked with as she aims to please but would take some time. Shirley is up to date, dewormed, flea treated, altered and microchip. She is house broken, crate trained and is even work on basic commands. She just wants to be praise, and mabey a cookie, she really likes cookies. She is getting better at walking on leash, but will need a owner who can work on her pulling. She is super smart and great with other dogs, has been good with people after given enough time to adjust, and even been good with other animals. She has not met cats yet so we don’t know. And we do suggest older kids due to her personality. She is a lot of dog for a little to handle. She is a great dog and she love soft beds, time with her family, and wants a home that she can spend the rest of her life in. We spend a lot of time trying to get to know the dogs in our program as best as we can. This means that we have spent time introducing them to dogs, cats, kids, animals, people and as many things as we can. We try to do as much as we can to evaluate them, both with in our group and if the dogs come from other rescues or shelters their evaluations as well. However dogs are individuals and will react to different situations differently. This means that we do not know how a dog will react in every situation. We give out our best guess based off information provided but the handler of a dog and the way they are introduced to a situation makes a huge impact. So if you have any questions of how to introduce a dog to your home, please let us know and we will provide as much info as we can from pamphlets to helping find a trainer in your area. Our rescue aims to help dogs who are passed by and over looked by most rescues and people. We help the dogs who are in need of medical care, vetting, training and breeds that most will not help with. In most shelters if you are large dog, a big dog, or a male dog; from the moment you walk in you are on barrowed time. If you have docked ears or are a guardian breed your time was over before you walked in the doors. We aim to save these dogs and give them a second chance. Please help us save more lives by helping with our medical bills as they grow. This year has already been hard and we have many medical dogs in need. https://www.gofundme.com/v2eap2f8 If you would like to adopt this pet please send us an email. Applications will be sent to you via email. We do our best to get back to emails in 24 hrs. If it has been longer then that please resend another email. We would love to hear from you. We welcome any questions that you may have. Our goal is to find the right fit for every home, not just any home! We have been informed that some of the links to email us regarding our adoptable dogs are not working. This has been on going for a few weeks with petfinder and a few other links. If you find this to be an issue that you are having please send an email directly to us at: RisingPhoenixWa@aol.com If you are inquiring on a specific pet we do ask that you put the name of the pet in the subject line. So we know who it is that you are inquiring regarding. Thank you in advance for understanding as we work through this. As with any rescue we are always in need of donations. 1. Do your research - find out what types of dogs would be a good fit for your lifestyle and the activity level of your family. Also keep in mind the grooming needs of certain breeds that might require frequent maintenance.
  2. Decide what you can handle - before you get sucked in by all the adorable puppy eyes you're about to see, think long and hard about the appropriate age dog for your family or if you are capable of caring for a special needs dog. Puppies are a lot of work, if you don't have time for potty training and obedience classes you'll want to consider an older dog. There are plenty of middle aged, vibrant dogs up for adoption as well as many senior dogs that would be a great fit for a family looking for a more subdued dog with lots of love to give.
  3. Learn about the shelters and their adoption policies - It might be easier to start looking at shelters within a certain radius of home but don't be afraid to venture out to other states as well. Many states have larger populations of adoptable dogs and their shelters are willing to transport pets to suitable adopting families. Some shelters might have requirements for a home visit, a fenced yard or require you to visit the pet multiple times before you commit to adopting. Understand that the shelters are doing their best to place the pets in suitable homes and these requirements are in the best interest of both you and the pet
  4. Start looking… - Once you know what you're looking for and what to expect you can start your search through thousands of adoptable dogs. PuppyFinder allows you to search by age, breed, location and gender.
  5. Meet in person. - Whenever possible it is best to meet the animal in person before agreeing to bring them into your life. Even though photos and descriptions can tell you a bit about a dog, you can't get a true feeling for the animal until you are able to interact with them and make sure they are a good fit for your entire family, including other pets.
