. Our poodles are treated like family and raised with LOVE. We socialize them with other dogs, children, and adults. We acquaint them to other outdoor sounds so they aren’t afraid of every leaf that might fall. We get them acquainted with a doggie door. (We have found this is a very good way to housebreak them.) And then at approximately 6 weeks we accustom them to being groomed. (we bathe them, dry them with a 4500w dog hair dryer, trim their nails, clean the hair from their ears) we want to familiarize the puppy to the grooming process. Forget any preconceived notions about Poodles you may have: Poodles are eager, athletic, and wickedly smart dogs of remarkable versatility. The breed originated as a duck hunter in Germany, where the word “pudelin” refers to splashing in water. The Standard Poodle began its development as a retrieving water dog more than 400 years ago. With a crisp, curly coat as protection against the elements, superlative swimming ability, and off-the-charts intelligence, the Poodle was, and still is, a magnificent retriever.
