Posted Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed. Four-year-old Hawk is handsomely modeling his warm winter sweater. At a lean 15 pounds, Hawk has slowly accustomed himself to the safety and security of his foster home. New to the feeling of trust but blessed with the gentlest personality, he now wants to sit with his fosters all of the time and will only go into his crate at night or when they must leave him alone for a while. Having released his inner puppy, he enjoys playing with toys and sharing with his doggy foster brother. Hawk LOVES sitting in the sun and finding sunlight around the house if he’s unable to be outside. Still new to the leash, he follows his doggy foster brother’s lead when they go on walks, and despite being nervous, he’s fine when he sees other dogs along the way. (Healthy, agile, and athletic, he may eventually be trained to go on hikes). Fond of chewing bones, nibbling on chicken and sausage, and motivated by food, he currently knows “come,” is working with his foster mom on name recognition, and is almost fully house-trained. Now what Hawk needs to be truly happy is a soft and patient adopter who will slowly earn his trust, continue his socialization, and complete his training, including his commands, in exchange for his own enduring loyalty and love. Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask that you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application received in the order they're submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If your home sounds like a good match for you and the pet, we will connect you with our dogs' foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a "meet and greet" is set up. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to finalize the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all DAPP boosters after adoption. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for any rabies vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here .
