Terrier Dog Breeds Group
Terrier Group Dog Breeds: Bold, Spirited, and Built for the Hunt
Terrier breeds in both the AKC and UKC systems are known for their fearless personalities, compact builds, and relentless drive. Originally bred to hunt and eliminate vermin, these dogs are energetic, tenacious, and highly alert. Whether it’s a feisty Jack Russell Terrier or a dignified Scottish Terrier, members of the Terrier Group excel in agility, watchdog duties, and spirited companionship. Their strong prey instincts, vocal nature, and independent minds make them ideal for active owners who appreciate a challenge. With proper training and socialization, terriers thrive in homes that match their intensity and intelligence.

Overview:
In appearance similar to a smaller Basset Hound or some heavier Dachshunds and Beagles, the Belgrade Terrier is a lively breed, but not as agile as the original variety. Fairly massive and deep-chested, it has a slightly elongated back and short sturdy legs. The head is elegant and round, with a hound-like muzzle and well-developed jaws. The ears are carried low, although they aren't as long as those of the Basset Hound.
