At one year old, Harper still has a lot of puppy in him. He loves his toys—throw one and he will pounce on it and then happily play keep-away with you (and he will win). He’s a healthy pup—he weighs about 8 pounds, was neutered early, and is up-to-date on all his shots. His original family gave him lots of love and care, but unexpected near-tragic events compelled his family to turn to a series of temporary caretakers and then finally decide to surrender him to the rescue. So, Harper would dearly love to find a forever home where he can get the consistent loving care he deserves, the exercise he needs, and the play he enjoys. He thoroughly enjoys taking many walks a day. He will need training to help him behave better when he meets other dogs, as his current response is to bark at them and their owners. Although he is wary of unfamiliar dogs and people, he warmed immediately to his current foster-parents, and within a couple hours he settled into playing rough-and-tumble with their dogs. Harper is staying with Tricia in Charlottsville, VA.
