Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VT Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes Good with kids: Yes Crate trained: Mostly House trained: Mostly Bandito is a fun loving, happy-go-lucky guy who loves to play with other dogs. He can be stubborn, but takes correction well. He enjoys playing outside and chew toys. He gets along with kids, cats, and dogs. He will chase a cat, but has never been aggressive. He loves to snuggle and will sit quietly if no one wants to play. His training in all areas is coming along well and you will fall in love with his soft fur and happy personality. Bandito loves a playmate! He would do best with another dog or a kid or two to play with. He takes correction from older dogs well. He would make a great jogging, walking or hiking companion. Bandito settles quickly in his crate so long as he has had plenty of time to get his energy out during the day, and he does best with a toy or two in there with him. He is doing well with house training and is almost there; he usually alerts and will always go when taken outside. He walks very well on a leash. Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
