He loves to hug and snuggle his people and squeaky toys are his favorite. He plays well with other dogs and would do well as a solo dog or in a home with another dog to play with! Inquisitive and playful, Leo loves greeting new people (all dog-savvy ages welcome!) and doing new things–he is not even afraid of the vacuum cleaner! He would be happy and comfortable in any environment–city, suburbs, or rural. Leo is a food-motivated quick learner who is already house trained, crate trained, and learning basic commands. He sleeps quietly in his crate all night and settles quickly in his crate during the day. He is working on walking on leash and not jumping when he’s excited. With the right combination of delicious treats and squeaky toys, he is sure to prove his intelligence in no time at all! Leo would be the perfect addition to a home looking for a puppy that they can help grow into his most confident self! As Leo is a big boy who is still learning, a home without young children would be best.Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website. If you cannot find a particular dog on our website, he/she may be on a temporary foster hold. All dogs are otherwise posted until they are officially adopted. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
