Description
Posted Breed: Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed. Pengu was born around 11/22/23 and weighed 19 pounds on 2/7/24. He will likely be large when fully grown. He came from Cherokee with his 3 litter mates. He didn't get a ton of socialization as a young puppy, so he needs a home where someone will be patient and kind and allow him to learn to "dog". Pengu is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and started on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $350 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at petsmpravl for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
