Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Raz is a mixed breed guy, approx 4-5 years old and 50 lbs. Raz is looking for a foster home (or foster-to-adopt!) home where he can ideally be the only animal. He's not a fan of cats, and we've been told he has recently shown some resource guarding tendancies with one dog was fostered with in South Dakota. Don't let this deter you though, because Raz is an AWESOME companion! He is totally potty trained and very respectful in the home. He's a genuine couch potato after getting a nice walk in, and is truly looking for a best friend. Raz could transfer to us ANY weekend in Feb, as long as we have a foster home for him! Let us know if you have room for this guy! Raz is looking for a foster home and ultimately, an adoptive home! As we learn more about them, we'll update their bio. Interested in fostering or adopting? Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
