Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Cricket is Little Miss Sunshine! Cricket is a 1.5-year-old lovebug who can't wait to be your new best friend. This lovely girl is as sweet as can be and is looking to be your right-hand lady for all things fun. She is the perfect mix of energy and chill and is irresistibly cute. Cricket is fully grown and weighs about 40lbs. Cricket came to us from a local shelter after she was found as a stray. Cricket was originally suspected to have a genetic blood disorder and was at risk of euthanasia, but has since been retested and is a normal, healthy girl ready for her fur-ever home. Cricket is a bundle of fun that loves to be with her people, whether that is out and about on an adventure, or cuddling on the couch at home, she is your girl. She loves making new human friends and often goes to breweries and small gatherings with her foster mom. She can be a little protective of her favorite people when on the couch, but we have found not allowing her on the couch when guests are over works well. Cricket is a smart girl who would love a family that keeps her busy mind occupied with training and enrichment. She has learned all her basic manners but could be a great dog to teach lots of tricks to as she loves to work for food. Cricket can be reactive to things such as bikes and skateboards on walks, but has been doing great with her training. Her new family should be prepared to continue to help her with her leash manners. Cricket would do best with someone who has experience with herding breeds and/or leash-reactive dogs. Cricket loves her dog friends, but would do best as the only dog in her home as she can be protective of her things and people. Cricket is a little too interested in playing with cats, so would do best in a kitty-free home. Cricket could do well with a family with kids 14 years or older, or an adult-only home. Cricket has been doing great with her housetraining, but her new family should be okay with accidents while she is transitioning to a new home and routine. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives, and are given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
