Posted Breed: Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 250. Winnie Baby is a sweet and loving 7 month old, 50 pound puppy who loves to play with other dogs and loves being around kids. She often thinks you are cold and/or lonely when sitting on the couch and will jump onto your lap and cuddle to make you happy, although she doesn't like to give kisses. She spends her days in a crate if there is no one home, and her nights in bed with her humans and dog friends, where she loves to nuzzle her nose into you or sleep in the bend of your knee. She gets lonely easily and will do best in a home with another dog. As a Heeler mix, she would do best in a home with a large fenced-in yard for running. She knows her name, a few commands, and walks well on a leash. Apply to adopt her today! All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
