Posted Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). Meet Ruby She is a dark red Heeler mix. Her and her siblings were dumped along the side of the road in Southern, Indiana. Luckily they were rescued and taken to the animal shelter. Ruby and her sister Jasmine found their way to Plymouth, IN. Where they are now being fostered. Ruby’s foster mom says the girls were very Leary and fearful of her but are now coming around. They follow her and are learning a routine. Ruby and her sister are currently sleeping and eating in a crate. They run from point A-B when they know food is involved. Ruby will definitely need a slow feed bowl. Ruby is the bolder pup. She will adventure out and discover new environments and objects. Jasmine tends to be more hesitant and will follow Ruby. They love to play with toys and cuddle in your arms. Ruby has a very unique look and people love that. However heeler breeds are busy bodies so make sure you have time and patience for one. They like exercise. Ruby can already do stairs and is in the process of potty training. Ruby is 10 to 12 weeks old and being fostered in Plymouth, IN If you have questions about Ruby, please email cripecaseygmail . A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
