Posted Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Dugan is looking for a home to call his own! Dugan is a petite Lab/Terrier mix that is great with other dogs! He can be a little shy at first with them, but truly loves them. He can be shy with people that he does not know, but easily warms up to you. He loves to play and has lots of energy. We feel Dugan would enjoy a home with another dog who likes to play. He also enjoys cuddling with his people. He rides great in a car and loves long walks and hiking. No children for Dugan and a home that isn't super active. He was crated a lot in his prior home and can be protective of his people around strangers. Dugan will require a privacy fence if adopters home is in a suburban setting. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
