Description
Posted Breed: Jindo (Korean) / Mixed. Jinsook (aka Jinny) is a 43 lb. Jindo mix who is 13 years old and was surrendered to a shelter by her owner. She's now living the good life in foster care while she waits for her new family. Jinny is living with 3 big dogs (male and female) and gets along well with all of them. Don't let her age fool you; Jinny has some pep in her step and is still quite playful! She enjoys her morning walks, with or without other doggies, and is good on the leash. Jinny is a sweet, affectionate lady who enjoys being petted. She is house and crate trained and has free run of the house when her foster mom is away from home. She does not get on the furniture (although she is allowed to do so and is capable of jumping on the couch). Jinny would do best in a home without small children or cats. She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm negative, and on heartworm prevention. You can apply to meet/adopt her here: legacyhumanesociety/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
