Posted Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). JANIE is all affection, hugs and cuddles. She's also excellent with every dog we've introduced her to. She's even good with cats. She's very curious and likes to get in close to explore -- including your face for kisses :-) Her adoption fee includes her spaying, vaccines, deworming and microchip. She was born July 2022. She had major surgery, has healed beautifully, and now she's putting weight back on. Crate trained as well. She's a gem, a very happy dog :-) Please email desertpawsnmgmail first to see if he's still available. Online application process - application, photos, meetgreet at your home with your pets and family members. You must live in our adoptable area (Abq, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Los Alamos). Children should be over the age of eight. You must have another friendly dog under the age of eight. We look forward to meeting you and your fur babies and bringing a new member to your family!

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
