Posted Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 500. Meet Russer! Rus is a 4 month old terrier/lab mix boy who was dumped in a Kentucky shelter with 8 of his other siblings. He finally found a foster home after a whole month in shelter life and has learned to be a puppy! He was very shy and unsure at first, but now realizing how much fun life is. Russer currently weighs about 25lbs. He loves to play in the yard and go on walks. He does great with all other dogs and respects kitties. He is a bright boy and eager to learn, he already knows sit and down. Potty training is going great! This puppy is very well behaved and well mannered. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
