Posted Breed: Unknown breed. THOR - 8 years old, 65 pounds, house trained, good with kids, sleeps in bed with the children, great family dog, only pet. Thor was easy to get out of the kennel...can't say that too often when it comes to shelter dogs stuck in cages 24-7! Easy to get out of the cage, leash up and walk outside, Thor was a pleasure to hang out with. He is a sweet fella who loves to go for walks. First surrendered last year for getting through the fence and now back for biting another dog, this boy is looking for a new family where the fence is secure, he’s the only pet, and attention is in abundance! Thor is a good boy who is able to hang out all day in a home without incident. He loves children and was even sleeping in the bed with the kids. Thor is, to me, at that perfect age, beyond those puppy years and behaviors, trained and experienced in a home. You and your children can absolutely bond with an adult dog and the best thing is that you don't have to go through the potty training, chewing, jumping, and mouthiness! Getting used to a new routine is always there though, so please be cognizant of any dog entering a new home and how everyone, even dogs, need time to adapt; I bet Thor won't take long! He is currently in a back kennel so if you don’t see him, please just ask! VBACAC 341 S Birdneck Road, VB Open daily 12-5 pm.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
