Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $350. Available for adoption! Brewster is a sweet and adorable young lady ready to find her forever family. She is around 1.5-2 years old and weighs just over 40 lbs (but can stand to lose a few lbs). She was found as a stray and then spent several months in the shelter. We can tell she was a mama before and still carries the worried look from having a hard life so far. We don’t think Brewster had ever lived in a home prior to getting to her foster house. In just one short week she has figured out home life and has been a great guest. She hasn’t had any accidents and is quiet and good in her crate. She also has been good at sharing with the other dogs around. Brewster has that sweet soul that just melts your heart. Her eyes and facial expressions say it all. She loves getting attention from people. She also enjoys the company of others dog. She is a great doggy playmate and cuddle buddy to her foster home’s many resident pups. We think she would be happiest with a dog(s) friend in her forever home. Brewster walks pretty well on a leash but isn’t sure about initially leaving her safe place (currently her foster home). Once she is out and going she is a good girl who we think will quickly feel comfortable out and about with more experience. Many things will be new, and potentially scary (like the vacuum), to this sweet pup so a patient and loving family who will help show her the way is what she needs. If you are interested in adopting Brewster please email us at almosthome4dogsyahoo (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogsyahoo. Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
